2/20/26: Older homes don’t care about your original plan.
From day one, the client had a clear vision.
They loved the character of this 1925 South Tampa home — the kitchen just didn’t function. It felt tight, closed off, and disconnected from the way they live.
The plan:
Remove a wall.
Move the fridge and stove.
Add an island.
Install a custom wood range hood.
Incorporate a side-by-side panel-ready refrigerator.
Keep the classic feel.
Simple in theory.
Not simple to execute.
We started by enclosing a hallway and removing those walls to truly open up the footprint. Once exposed, it was clear the existing electrical wouldn’t support the new layout properly. New appliances, island outlets, under-cabinet and in-cabinet lighting — it all required a fresh start.
So we removed the plaster and rebuilt it correctly.
New wiring.
Dedicated circuits.
Proper outlet spacing.
Recessed LED lighting.
New drywall and paint.
No shortcuts.
The panel-ready refrigerator alone took two full days to install and dial in.
We added tall crown molding to emphasize the 10-foot ceilings and draw the eye up.
When the walls came down, we patched and laced in the original wood floors to match the 1925 flooring, then refinished floors throughout the home so everything blended seamlessly.
They chose our Antique White cabinetry to stay true to the house, paired with beautiful contrasting backsplashes.
There were mixed opinions on the backsplash at first.
Until it went in.
Now everyone loves it.
It turned into more work than expected.
But in a 1925 South Tampa home, you either respect the house — or you don’t.
We did.
We always do. Do you have a classic home that needs a tasteful remodel? Give us a call! We got you! It’s our specialty! Our estimates are always free!
