Trattoria Tra Di Noi - which means "among us" in Italian - has been an adored Italian eatery in Belmont for around two decades. Originally from Abruzzo, Italy, Chef Marco has been in the kitchen since he was 12 years old. He started as a dishwasher, apprenticed in private houses, and worked his way up. He learned cooking methods from different regions across Italy, and even found himself working as a chef for actress Sophia Loren. All of this prepared him for his lifelong career as a stellar chef.
His dedication and exquisite dishes are the proof - meatballs are always in high demand, his Pasta Fave is a popular offering rare for the NYC area, and his Lasagna Bolognese was featured in the Thrillist article "The 50 things you must eat in NYC before you die."
The atmosphere among the staff and customers at Trattoria Tra Di Noi is warm, vibrant and caring. There are many loyal customers whom the family knows by name. Marco always considers the kitchen staff's needs because he remembers his beginnings, and dinner is not served after 9pm to avoid overworking them.
Now in his late 70s, Chef Marco still works six days a week and comes in at 6:30am. He enjoys doing the prep himself and making the sauces - it's a true labor of love! 💫 🇮🇹
