There’s a difference between masonry repair… and true masonry restoration.
A proper repointing job should never scream, “Look what was repaired!”
It should quietly honor the original craftsmanship of the home.
Too often, you can drive past a historic stone or brick structure and immediately spot where repairs were made:
• Bright white mortar joints that don’t match the aged patina
• Hard modern mortar against soft historic masonry
• Bricked-in windows that look patched instead of preserved
• Repairs that visually interrupt the story the building has carried for generations
At Tuscarora Custom, we approach restoration differently.
Our goal is simple:
When we finish, you shouldn’t be able to tell where our work begins or ends.
We carefully study the existing mortar profile, aggregate, color tone, weathering, texture, and age of the structure so new work blends seamlessly into masonry that may have stood for 100–150+ years. The result should feel timeless — not freshly “patched.”
Historic masonry deserves respect.
Not just repair.
This project is a perfect example of restoration masonry done correctly: cohesive, historically mindful, and intentionally blended so the integrity and character of the home remain intact.
The best restoration work is often the work nobody notices. And honestly? That’s the point.
