Just wrapped up my update class for the OSHA Authorized Trainer / (providing OSHA 10 & 30 Hour Classes). A great module added was Foundation for Safety Leadership. We must take more responsibility for providing better Leadership in our Safety Culture.

We do not know where this picture was taken, but the message is a good one. It’s one I bet a lot of us can relate to. Do we gamble with our safety? Let check it out…
• Do we get in our car, buckle up and then drive too fast or occasionally text and drive? That’s a gamble!
• Do we do yard work on occasion without the appropriate PPE? That’s a gamble!
• Do we ever over exert (lift more than we should) when we don’t have anyone around to assist? That’s a gamble!
• Do we ever – have we ever – would we ever – WHY? The list could go on and on and on and on!
Seriously, the picture shows the question and the very guys hanging it are failing to ACT! Safety is more than merely knowing the right things to do, wear, or say – It’s ACTION in time to prevent incident.

These little things can add up to HUGE DANGERS. It only takes a second for things to go VERY wrong. Let’s all avoid them by NOT TAKING UNNECESSARY RISK. Take the additional time, if necessary. Stop to get a spotter when necessary.
