Urban Garden Experiment Zone 9b, Central Gulf Coast Florida. Urban and back yard garden experiment blog. So for a few years now I've been attempting gardening in my back yard.

I grew up in KY and live in FL. Gardening is VERY different. Each planting, some things go great, some things don't. So I keep saying "it's an experiment". I wanted to share the experience with others. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's frustrating. Care to experiment with me?

Well, it froze Sunday/Monday nights. It does not look good out there. The ones covered are unlikely to recover, but those banana stalks look like toast, literally. Good thing is they will regen new leaves and recover. A lot is gone, trees & shrubs burned; some is still there and I did manage to get some of the tomatoes, peppers and herbs inside. We will see.... Notes on each photo.

In case you didn't know, I also enjoy canning/preserving harvests from the garden. Last week, Ginger Berserker and I had to pull so many of the green tomatoes before the frost. Some ripened, but the rest didn't so today I made green 'mater salsa! BAM! And yeah, the house smells amazing!

Well, it froze again last two nights. It does not look good out there. The ones covered might still recover, but those banana stalks look like toast, literally. Good thing is they will regen new leaves and recover. Should have covered the eggplants. On the other hand, the "volunteer" lettuces and all the greens are thriving!

Gonna freeze tonight. Ginger Berserker and I have done what we can considering how bad the winds are. Can't cover it all like usual. Pulled all the tomatoes to try and let them ripen on the counter. We did wrap individual tomato baby tomato plants and brought in the smallest plants....

Working working working! And there is an actual possible freeze coming in tonight. Yet the winds are too high to get any of the covers in place. Will hope the ones on the porch will make it, know I will loose the tomato plants further out in the garden. The greens and herbs will be fine. But I'm worried about the loquat tree....it had already started blooming and has a couple of fruits already.....
