In 2016 Brazilian Architecture firms Mareinas Arquitetura and Patalano Arquitetura completed an incredibly unique home in Sao Paulo. They named it Pinhao after a Brazilian fruit, which is a staple. They've translated the organic form of the fruit in the building and leafy roof shape, using ramps instead of stairs, and seemingly contiguous spaces. Complementing its shape with natural woods, brick, and stone provide a complete organic feeling. This project is a graceful accomplishment for mixed use and affordable housing. In San Francisco, townhome style dwellings are common. Bill Sorro communities have been designed to complement the surrounding community. This mix-use design contains 67 low-income families, 14 of the apartments are specifically designed for developmentally disabled adults. Like the surrounding structures, Bill Sorro’s Community (BSC) stands right against the road, granting easier access by foot, bike, and vehicles. This is an exemplary project to model, from both a design, and business perspectives. The developer made sure that the commercial tenants rent costs are low, so they could keep their own costs down for the residents, and surrounding community. architects: photographer: @ San Francisco, California

Here’s an inspiring project, a precedent undoubtedly. A place that gives one solitude, and to feel on top of the world in a modest and humble way. You don’t have to be an Architect to appreciate the tranquility these spaces provide. It seems to be the perfect to get away to disconnect and do so safely.
