When I first took this job, as Dir. of RST Forestry, I wanted to build log cabins for the poor people, because of our severe lack of housing which is causing most of our Social Ills, drunkenness, drugs, sexual abuses, spouse abuse and so on.
I ended concentrating on making this place a lumber yard bringing in $1.283.000.00 to upgrade this capability and so now we have a new sawmill and a bldg. to cover it along with a kiln and a Bio brick molder and wood pellet former for replacement of our hardwood firewood made out of our pine sawdust. I feel it will be a large revenue source once going.
It's hard to cope living in tight quarters with other families living in the same house, they eat and drink food that you bought for your family.
I wanted to build small simple ones that the common man can build with the help of his or her Tiospaye, the tribe/SWA and earnest monies($5,000.00 from the family/Tiospaye) put in a bank because of a developed MOA between the tribe/ SWA and the Tiospaye where they would share the building of a 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and a 3 bedroom on cabins that where designed to grow larger if needed.
The family or Tiospaye that is getting the house would have to commit the $5000.00 of earnest monies hours to the building of the house and at least 60% of the labor and call it sweat equity and this labor hour would actually be deducted from the $5,000.00 as time was committed to building the home. A dollar value into that building which would deduct from the earnest monies that all would recognize this sweat equity effect back through the MOA. Maybe an equal match in dollars or even a quad match, to lower the overall cost of the home.
I want to do something other that what the tribe is doing for our people, but those houses that are going up now will be costing that homeowner close to $300,000.00 for their new house and how long do you think it will take you to pay this off. I want an alternative, who is in agreement with me!!????
