This weekend in Bolingbrook IL we inspected several roofs that were damaged during March 10th 2026 hail storm and wanted to share some context that homeowners rarely hear about until they’re already in the middle of an insurance claim:

When hail claims are submitted, insurance carriers don’t simply look for “damage.” They look for *specific documentation that proves and corroborates functional hail impacts tied to a particular storm date.

The photos below are examples of what adjusters typically evaluate during a hail inspection:

• Granule loss exposing asphalt
• Circular impact fractures in laminated shingles
• Soft bruising beneath the shingle mat
• Collateral impacts on soft metals (vents, gutters, flashing, siding, fascia, skylights)

Many roofs can look perfectly fine from the ground but actually have qualifying damage that only becomes visible during a close visual inspection.
