🏛️🎨 175+ YEARS OF MARGARETVILLE HISTORY — AND THE RRC TREATMENT
If these walls could talk… they’d probably have a hell of a story. 📜
The buildings that make up The Commons on Main Street in Margaretville trace their roots back to the mid-1800s, with one portion associated with a general store operating here as early as 1849.
For generations, this property has been part of the changing face of Main Street — from old-time merchants and the Margaretville Department Store to the galleries, artists, craftsmen and local businesses that occupy The Commons today.
Fast-forward roughly 175 years… RRC showed up. 😎🎨
And this old monster got some love.
🧼 We power washed the vinyl exterior and soft washed the rear to kill off the mold and organic growth that had accumulated over the years.
🪵 Decks were cleaned up and clear coated to protect them and bring the wood back to life.
🚪 Doors and rear windows were prepped and refinished.
🔨 Damaged trim was repaired instead of simply being painted over.
💡 Even the can lights were refinished because the little s**t matters too.
🪜 The big metal staircase out back went from tired and weathered to looking DAMN near new again, and that beat-up old oil tank got brought back into the program too.
But then there was the Main Street storefront… 👀
That's where we gave this old girl the full RRC treatment. 🎨🔥
Those decorative brackets, dental work, trim profiles and all the little architectural details you barely notice from the street?
We noticed them.
Multiple colors. Tight lines. Detail brush work. Working off scaffolding in the middle of downtown. Taking an old commercial storefront and making all those little details POP again instead of burying them under another quick coat of paint. 🖌️🏛️
And all of this while businesses stayed active and Main Street kept moving around us.
This wasn't one giant dramatic transformation.
It was a hundred smaller transformations spread across one BIG ASS building. 😂💪
We were so busy banging this monster out that we didn't take nearly enough pictures, but the ones we did get tell the story.
There's something different about putting your hands on a building that's been part of a community for well over a century. You're not building something that'll be gone in ten years.
You're taking care of something that was here long before you — and hopefully will still be here long after you. 🏛️⏳
