After a storm passes, one of the most common questions we receive is who is responsible for repairing damaged electrical equipment.
This graphic helps explain the difference between electric cooperative equipment and member-owned equipment.
Co-op owned equipment (like power lines, transformers, and poles) will be repaired by our crews if it is damaged during a storm.
Member-owned equipment (such as the weatherhead, service mast, meter base, and service panel) is the responsibility of the homeowner. If these components are damaged, repairs must be made by a licensed electrician and inspected before power can be restored.
If your home experienced damage to member-owned equipment during the recent storms:
1️⃣ Contact a licensed electrician to make repairs
2️⃣ The electrician may need to coordinate an inspection if required
3️⃣ Once repairs are complete, we can safely reconnect service
Always stay far away from downed power lines and report them immediately.
Our crews continue working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate your patience and support during storm rec
