Pregnant Bear Caught Carrying Hunter’s Rifle.
In the quiet mountain town, police body cam footage captured something no one could believe a bear walking calmly down the road with a rifle in her mouth.
Officials say the rifle came from a nearby cabin that had been broken into just hours before. Investigators quickly discovered it belonged to a local hunter. After speaking with the man, they learned he had legally harvested a bear just a week earlier with that very gun.
Wildlife researchers believe the pregnant female bear caught on camera was the mate of the harvested male. Drawn by the familiar scent, she likely carried the weapon away, mistaking it for a connection to her lost partner.
Authorities have since safely relocated the bear to a more remote area, and the rifle was recovered and returned. As one officer put it after reviewing the footage: “Working out here, we’re more worried about bears than gun violence, but when a bear’s got a gun, we get extremely worried”
