Debby Evans Garden Design - Consulting & Design Services My love for nature coupled with my interest in serving others, brought me to study Landscape Design.

I design all types of gardens and especially enjoy that overlooked space, element of surprise, out of the box, WOW, vignette that may be overlooked in the larger landscape. I share and care about YOUR garden and hope this page is helpful to you!

Behind our home there are over 500 acres of trails and hills. After another morning of rain, I took this image which is so lovely (but not a great photo 😳). My approach to most design opportunities is to incorporate as much of the native grasses, plants, and trees to give a cohesive overall landscape. I love creating effective dry creeks for the distribution of water too. We are set up for a beautiful spring!! Get your spring planting lists ready!!

We are loving our life on the Central Coast of California! This image reflects a dry stacked stone wall we installed to gain 6’ in depth of our 11,000 sf lot at our “newer” home. 3 years of growth of our plant palette of various Australian Leucandrons, Tea Trees, variety of grasses, Olive trees and shrubs are the foundation of our plantings. We also tucked a spa behind a break in the wall with stone steps and flagstone pathways and patio.

Just as our gardens evolve and grow, die off and live again, so my business has changed. I began providing landscaping design services in the Northern California greater communities of Sacramento. From the very small gardens of the city proper, to the foothills off Highway 50 and 80 and beyond, it has been my great joy and honor to help many people create a garden that fits their lifestyle and serve as a place of peace, activity, joy, and reflection. I have recently moved from my foothill home in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs to the Central Coast of California. From San Luis Obispo, through the Five Cities, covering both San Luis Obispo and North Santa Barbara County, the consulting services I have for so long loved will continue. While I am waiting for the completion of our home to be built, I am engaging with the land and landscapes from the seashores to the interior communities bordered by the foothills. By word of mouth, several new clients and I are working on various projects that I will share soon on these pages. This area is absolutely beautiful with a mediterranean climate as well as the strong elements of the seas cooling breezes and often wind. The soil is sandy and everywhere there are farms growing food for local and national plates. Strawberries are definitely in season and there are few things more delicious than a freshly picked berry, popped into ones mouth. Soon there will be blueberries. In fact I have a friend in Arroyo Grande, that dependent upon the edicts from the state government, should soon open to pick your own berries! When that happens, I will let you know. I am thrilled to be here and look forward to making new friends, growing my own and assisting others grow their dream gardens, in good health. I have had tremendous personal and professional support over the years and see that will continue while I settle here with my family. Blessings to you!

We have a beautiful array of fall colors greeting us each day. This IS the time for fall planting and in particular trees are a wonderful addition that within a very few months you will be so happy to see. It is also clean up and cut back seasonal perennials in preparation for winter. A layer of mulch to keep them warm and a haircut will reap great benefits! So fun for me to share with you the story that is my (now) 4 1/2 year old garden. The blank canvas has filled in beautifully and will only continue. Enjoy today and your garden. Blessings to you!

Spring continues to bloom and brighten! From all ranges of green, we have pink, burgundy, deep red, orange, mixed blooms and more. All the rain also brought an infestation of bugs wanting to feed. Several purchases of Lady Bugs and other beneficial insects as well as a good stream with the hose keep us and our plants safe with natural/non-chemical and toxic products back at the garden stores! I hope you are enjoying your garden. I would love to see your pictures! Please post for all to see. 😎

We have come a long way in 4 years. Excited to add 200 sf more to our deck, fun, cozy furniture and fire pit, spa, about 100 more soil retaining plants (after damaging rains), cut out neighbors dead trees and overhanging branches (big yeah!), very unique manzanita wood railing to the pool and at stairs in front yard, several pergolas, and COLOR!! Great find for interior wood flooring ( before and after pics to follow), some interior tweaks too. Please share your summer plans, updates, and what you learned post cold/snow/rain/floods of 2018/19. Happy gardening!! Muenster

We are making the turn from winter to spring!! What is happening in your garden? Remember to w**d before they seed and fertilize AFTER the third week of March. In Northern Cal foothills watch the temperatures (low) and be sure the plantings you fertilize have moisture in their soil. May rain next week so the next weekend would be perfect!! Happy gardens make happy people!
