Another beautiful Minnesota roof in the books! 🏡

This one's over on Fairlawn Drive in Minnetonka — and it came with a few hidden surprises that we tackled the right way. 💪

Here's the backstory:

The original 3-tab shingle roof was pretty old, hail damaged, and long past its service life. The gutter covers had taken a beating too. A full replacement was overdue — but once we got the old shingles off, we found something that needed addressing before we could lay a single new shingle. 👀

The decking was "gapped" and didn't meet modern standards.

Gapped decking is a building code issue. It happens when the original roof boards weren't spaced properly during construction and most roofers cover it up and move on. ❌

We don't do that. ✅

So we re-decked the ENTIRE roof with new OSB sheathing — bringing the structure up to current code before installing the new roof system on a properly built base.

Here's everything that went into this project:

🔨 Full tear-off of the old 3-tab shingles
🪵 Full re-deck with new OSB sheathing (code-compliant)
🛡️ Owens Corning ice and water barrier
🛡️ Owens Corning ProArmor synthetic underlayment
✨ Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles
☀️ New VELUX deck mount skylights (replaced old leaking units)
🔧 New custom chimney flashing
🔧 New roof vents and flashing details

A note on the skylights:

The old skylights were on borrowed time — heavy sealant buildup around the perimeter from years of patching leaks. When sealant becomes the only thing holding back water, the unit itself is done. We upgraded to premium VELUX deck mount units — the gold standard in residential skylights. ⭐

Up next on this project: new gutters and gutter covers to round out the full exterior weatherproofing package.

This homeowner over on Crocus Street in C**n Rapids had a roof that had truly given it everything — 30+ years of service, weathered shingles, and significant hail damage on top of it all. It was time. ⏰

Here's what went into this full replacement:

We don't just install a standard ice and water barrier and call it good. We identify the high rain-flow zones and over-protect those areas — because Minnesota winters don't play around. Ice dams and wind-driven rain are where most roofs fail, so that's where we put the extra muscle.

🏆 50-year non-prorated warranty
This homeowner is getting Owens Corning's Extended Warranty — a true non-prorated 50-year roof warranty. Not "prorated after year 10." Not "limited coverage after year 15." A real 50 years of peace of mind.
