What a transformation this great room remodel was!

Before the remodel, this split entry style home had great space on the main level, but with a giant wall down the center, the layout was pretty choppy. Our plans for the project included removing this wall, renovating the kitchen, updating the fireplace, and reconfiguring the living spaces to maximize the layout.

Before and after of the primary suite at our Holladay Split Entry Refresh project!

One common thing we run into in homes built in the 70s are really large bedrooms but really small closets. This was the exact case at this home.

During the renovation, we reworked the floor plan to reduce the size of the bedroom which gave us more room in the closet and still plenty of room in the bedroom. We then updated the bathroom and enclosed the second door from the hallway to create an ensuite bathroom for the primary. Swipe through to see how it all came together!

Things we changed and did not change when renovating this space:

- Removed the wall between the kitchen and living room
- Left the railing on the stairs open
- Switched the location of the range and sink
- Kept the dining room
- Added a large island
- Expanded the windows
- Removed the awkward fireplace
- Added storage
- Improved access to the backyard

Check out these adorable behind the scenes photos from this shoot!

One of our top goals at this new build home was to add a dog bath. We decided to add the dog bath between the mudroom and laundry room for easy access, but then added a pocket door between to ensure that the clothes in the laundry room are safe from a wet dog during bath time.
