• Must possess comprehensive knowledge of professional Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician principles, practices, concepts, and theories providing for sound independent work

POSITION INFORMATION: Music Director provides the music activities for the Ramstein Protestant Gospel Service (RGS) at Vogelweh Chapel. Directorship includes, but is not limited to training, scheduling, and processing music for liturgies with the RGS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Times for performance may vary throughout the week. Unless otherwise directed and approved by the Chaplain or designee, normal hours of performance shall be limited to service specific requirements such as the Protestant Gospel Service, rehearsals, and special services. Special services include, but are not limited to: Memorial services, Funeral services, combined services, faith specific holidays, and occasional support for special events.
• Arrive at least 60 minutes prior to the beginning of worship services and special services, and 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each rehearsal.

• Provide music and choir direction weekly for the RGS service at Ramstein Air Base Chapel.
• Provide for cantor support as necessary.
• Directorship shall be required for rehearsals, services, and special services. Special services include but are not limited to: Memorial services, Funeral services, combined services, faith specific holidays, and occasional support for special events.
• Direct a minimum of 1 rehearsal and 1 Worship Service each week.
• Collaborate musical selections with the Chaplain and accompanist.
• Select music to be played from a religious music, ecclesiastical, or suitable type publication resource consistent with the nature of the RGS.
• Arrange, improve, and score such music as appropriate for compatibility with the type of worship service or other functions of the Chaplain’s program at which it was rendered.
• Assist the Chaplain or designated representative in developing the following in regards to music director programs as appropriate: annual calendar of events, Chapel tithes and offerings fund budget, appropriated fund budget, and core volunteer training requirements.
• Submit a flexible annual plan for music programs and events. The plan shall be coordinated with the Chaplain; however, the final approval authority rests with the Chaplain.
• Return any and all government-owned music scores and equipment obtained in the performance of the required duties following the last service provided under the contract.
• Not engage in the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted materials by photocopying or any other means that would expose the government to liability for penalties under existing or future copyright laws.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Have 2 or more years of college in music (or related field), or equivalent years of related experience in a chapel/church setting.
• Be able to skillfully play an instrument (e.g. electric keyboard or acoustic guitar).
• Be able to sight read, arrange, improvise, play, and score music.
• Play music in keeping with a Protestant, Gospel style, music service.

JOB TITLE: Protestant Traditional Service Music Director

GOVERNMENT AGENCY & LOCATION:

POSITION INFORMATION: Plan, organize, and support the Ramstein Protestant Traditional Worship Service music program as director of worship service music, choir, and musicians. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the pluralistic military chapel setting and the mission and vision of the Traditional Service, the Protestant Community, and 86 AW/HC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work a minimum of 12 hours per week during the office hours from 0730 – 1630 Monday-Friday.
• Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the service start time to set up and prepare for worship in a timely manner. Any time spent immediately prior to the worship service or event is considered part of the worship service, and not a separate rehearsal.
• The length of the rehearsals shall be a minimum of one (1) hour, not to exceed three (3) hours.
• Must be physically present for major holy days and chapel events including, but not limited to, Advent/Christmas and Lent/Holy Week/Easter.
• Work in close coordination with the Traditional Service Chaplain.
• Attend weekly worship services or programs and be available to the Traditional Service Chaplain and the volunteer staff.
• Calendar all Traditional Service special music events, schedule and secure facilities for special music events, and submit fund requests for the approval of the Traditional Service Chaplain.
• Attend the regular Traditional Service planning meetings, for the purpose of reporting on past music team activities, coming events, budget concerns, and music support to the overall Traditional Service ministry.
• Maintain good rapport with and between volunteers, chapel staff and congregation members.
• Lead the congregational music portion of the weekly worship service, including leading the choir and music teams.
• Schedule, direct and supervise a minimum of one rehearsal per week for the worship music team musician and vocalists.
• Select worship music weekly, using the congregation's hymnal to select traditional music for congregational singing. Using discretion selects traditional worship music from a variety of sources for choral and special music.
• Coordinate music selections with the Traditional Service Chaplain no later than two weeks ahead of the service in which the selections will be performed.
• Recruit and train worship team musicians and vocalists.
• Keep a roster of all worship choir and music teams and be able to provide to Traditional Service Chaplain, when requested.
• Coordinate with Protestant Religious Education Coordinator during holiday seasons such as Christmas and Easter, to incorporate their programs for worship specials, to include conducting additional rehearsals as necessary.
• Upon request by the Traditional Service Chaplain, perform during special services such as funeral, memorial services, specific religious observances, cantatas, and other special programs.
• Maintain a catalog and continuity file of all music used in the service.
• Continually review new music releases for suitability of use in the Traditional Service in accordance with the abilities of the congregation to follow and sing the music, the performance level of the music team, and the chapel season. Submit new music to the Traditional Service Chaplain for approval prior to inclusion in worship.
• Set up and tear down music equipment and prepare the worship space for each rehearsal and each Sunday worship service.
• Publicize all music events (rehearsals, workshops, etc). Submit all information and publicity through the Parish Facilitator for approval by the Traditional Service Chaplain prior to announcement. Follow established local procedures to submit publicity.
• Order all music supplies and materials by completing an AF Form 4356 and submitting it through the Chaplain for approval.
• Create a calendar of music events matching the fiscal year (FY). Submit the music calendar to the Traditional Service Chaplain and Parish Facilitator.
• Inventory resources and equipment for worship music needs; maintain storage of all worship music resources; reorder and restock supplies using AF Form 4356.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Be a positive, motivated individual with the breadth and depth of knowledge to efficiently lead Protestant traditional worship music within the pluralistic atmosphere of the Air Force Chaplaincy, including coordination with staff, volunteers, adults, youth and children.
• A minimum of two years’ experience as a Protestant church music director or Protestant military chapel music director, or two years’ experience serving on a worship music team in a Protestant church or Protestant military chapel setting, is desired.
• Possess a high level of technical playing and/or singing ability including but not limited to the ability to sight-read music.
• Possess a high level of musical skills in voice. Additional skills in piano and/or organ are preferred. The ability to play by ear, arrange and chart music is preferred but not required.
• Know and be skilled in a variety of musical styles including but not limited to past and present traditional worship music.
• Demonstrate familiarity with an understanding of the Ramstein Traditional Service practices, and the ability to work constructively with the Traditional Service Chaplain, service members and volunteers.

JOB SUMMARY: This is a part-time position to provide Optometry Services on-site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to the Inmate Population on-site at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Edgefield and Satellite Prison Camp located in Edgefield, SC.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: From date of hire through the conclusion of our contract with the government, September 30, 2028, unless it is extended or otherwise terminated by the government.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties shall be performed per the standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Optometry Services and in compliance with all Federal and State policies and regulations.

• Evaluation of patients as referred by the Medical Staff.
• Providing legible written reports on all patients evaluated, including but not limited to:
 Eye exams upon request
 Diagnosis of eye conditions
 Removal of foreign objects from the eye
 Physical findings
 Tonometry Exams
 Recommendations for treatment and follow-up care
 Prescribing corrective lenses/frames as appropriate
 Fitting of eyeglasses and adjustment of frames
 Individualized adjustment of exam equipment as needed
 The Optometrist must complete a minimum of 15 and up to 22 scheduled exams per day
 Utilize the Bureau of Prisons’ Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) to document the Eye Exam

ACADEMIC, EXPERIENCE AND OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• The Optometrist must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Must have knowledge of routine office-related duties including working knowledge of computers, word processing programs, and be able to type. The Optometrist must possess good organizational skills, good interpersonal relationship skills, and be able to work effectively with the medical staff.
• The Optometrist must hold a diploma from an accredited program and must possess two years of experience in optometry.
• The Optometrist shall also hold a current professional license that permits him/her to practice the professional specialty of optometry.
• The Optometrist must provide proof that they meet all qualifications.

SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT: All supplies and equipment will be furnished by the institution. These supplies normally will include examination equipment and a method/material for recording findings.

PATIENT MANAGEMENT: The Optometrist will be responsible for receiving patients and explaining procedures to alleviate undue anxiety, submitting reports and evaluations as requested. Patients shall be afforded impartial access to treatment or accommodations that are available or medically indicated, regardless of race, creed, s*x, national origin, or religion.

ATTIRE: The Optometrist is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment and is prohibited from wearing khaki or green clothing of any type.

SCHEDULE: A session is defined as 1 hour. A normal workday will consist of 8 sessions (hours) for an estimated total of 416 sessions per twelve-month period. A monthly schedule will be agreed upon. The Optometrist will normally work between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE:
The Optometrist shall provide and maintain medical malpractice and other insurance for the duration of their employment.

SECURITY AND INVESTIGATIVE REQUIREMENTS:
• The Optometrist will be required to sign in and out of the institution for accountability purposes and a badge will be issued and worn at all times for proper identification. The Optometrist shall attend an orientation program prior to assuming duties at FCI Edgefield.
• The Optometrist entering the institution may be required to meet certain security requirements before entering the institution.
• Optometrist must be certified by The American Board of Optometry.
• Note: Advance certifications such as Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Medical Ophthalmic Technologist are acceptable.
• Optometrist must have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Certification must be provided with application.
• Required to maintain certification through the utilization of organizations such as the American Board of Physician Specialties.
• Must provide valid proof of a current PPD/TB test to include results.
• Must provide both National Provider Identifier Standard (NPI) and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
* Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
* Valid state license to practice optometry
* Certified (or in process) by The American Board of Optometry
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
* Customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills

NICE TO HAVE:
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
* Prior VA Medical Center experience is a plus

CORE WORKING HOURS: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (excluding holidays)
