The Anacua trees are in full bloom đ
Ehretia anacua is a shade tree native to Texas and is ofter overlooked as a potential substitute for fast growing shade trees.
Identification is pretty easy when they have foilage. I describe them and like to call them Sandpaper trees, when helping people identify. The leaves feel like sandpaper when rubbed between your thumb and index finger.
Very dense foilage makes this a great tree for blocking the hot west sun, providing privacy and diversifying your canopy Fragrant flowers in the spring followed up by a sweet edible fruit attract birds.
Because they are blooming trees and produce fruit, I would not recommend planting next to the house or near cement walkways/driveways. They can be a bit messy when they drop flowers, fruit and leaves.
