From closed-off to wide open. This University City house needed a drastic update given the large views to the surrounding city and backyard. We designed a space that took down the walls boxing in the first floor and let the kitchen, dining, and living spaces flow into one another — then added a wall of large sliding doors and a new modern kitchen.

Cartel Roasting Co , now open in LA near Beverly Grove, is inspired by their history in Arizona, combined with found materials, their own hand fabrication and the local LA context. Another large ADU project finished in Bay Ho! 1,200 sf 3 bed / 2.5 bath with two garages and a roof deck. We also fit a secondary outdoor living space on the second floor walk out deck. This project shows what is possible to build if you remove your garage and rebuild with an ADU.

Recently completed a South Park Home Addition for a family needing more room including adding a master suite, office/den and walk out deck.

Taking extra space and converting it to living space can be a challenge, but is so worth it for extra room for visitors and for possible rental income. This junior ADU converted from under house storage space next to a garage has a full kitchen bedroom and bathroom and is just under 500 ft.² which helps avoid school fees!
