Update from a project I worked on in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles a few years ago. I’ve talked to a lot of clients about the idea of a mural in their garden. These folks actually went for it, and I LOVE IT.

Whole different vibe out front at .
We turned the front yard into a mini orchard, with fruit trees and swales to sink rainwater as it flows through the landscape.
Dropped some 2x12s to get across the swales, and built a proper bridge to the front door.
Can’t wait to see it in action when the rain hits.

Still can’t quite believe this happened earlier this year.

During the remodel, I kept telling my wife we had to design like we were aiming for , half-joking, but also serious about getting the details right. I wanted to create something personal, ambitious, and maybe just out of reach.

Seeing it featured there, with that Sunset logo, was surreal. Having the photo taken by my friend and incredibly talented colleague .doonan.hort.design made it even better. This one’s special. Endless thanks to for making it happen.
