Choose light and breathe.

This weekend at you can experience these visual sanctuaries. My latest 40” x 30” “Rest” will transport you to the Henry Cowell redwoods where you are invited to sit on a fallen log covered in a layer of glowing velvet moss.

Hope to see you.

The Hidden Gathering
8”x10”

Life has been quite a roller coaster in the past month. I’m pressing into hope—and sometimes finding simple joy in paying attention to the small things.

First painting of the year.
Different scenery. Same peace. Same purpose.

I don't like the cold. But this is based from a scenery I captured years ago. When my niece and nephew were still small, my sister and her husband took them to see snow, and they decided to take me and my husband, and my parents along. Everyone packed inside my sister's Sienna to go see snow.
The photo registered the location as Kingsvale Snowpark, dated 2011 and taken with my iPhone 3GS. I remember building a pathetic and lame snowman that was no taller than 3 ft... I was proud that I did it but the snowman looked more like a big lump of snow with bumps. How do you make them round!? Anyways, once I finished with the snowman project, I ducked back into the van to stay warm.

I do remember loving the air and how I liked that the snow made it quiet. I also love thinking about how our whole family was there together. And so as I painted this, I think of that peace, and the joy in the air when my niece and nephew were shrieking with laughters. My reference photo was dark and seemed very cold — so it was with these memories in my mind that I added my perspective - the light, some warmth and a not-so-obvious path into this scenery.

I haven't quite decided what to name this painting yet. But I know she will tell me tomorrow... perhaps tonight in my dream.

A great day for Plein Air… at The Forest of the Niesene Marks State Park … didn’t finish completely when we left. The painting still needed highlights and shadows… so I completed it at home from memory and also a bit of my own interpretation of the scenery. ✨

I was already happy that the miniature painting When We Are Gold has found a home. Imagine the pleasant surprise when I got this in the mail today — an Honorable Mention award (in Landscape category) for that same miniature. Thank you Parklane Gallery for the opportunity to be part of such a great exhibit. 🙏✨

Now I’m double happy. Yay day!
