Have you ever wondered, how long is too long for a resume?
You’re not the only one. There’s always been some confusion around this topic. Today, career experts J.T. O’Donnell and Dale Dauten clear things up:
According to O’Donnell, the meat of the issue is that there are no rules when it comes to resumes, which is why everyone is confused and on different pages when it comes to content, length, formatting, and so on. She recommended that your resume be no longer than 1-2 pages.

A Mentor of mine once told me to, "find out who it is that has what you want and seek them out."
Those people are winners after all, and as such they want to see you succeed. Who is the person of influence just outside of your circle? There's always one-- an uncle's friend, a friend's cousin. Amazing things happen when you extend your hand, and in most cases it will cost you nothing. Can you think of a better deal than that? 🤔

We all want to earn more money, but where exactly does it come from? Why should anyone pay you more if you haven't brought anything new to the table? What new ideas can you contribute to your thing? What are some skills that the big players have, that you could easily obtain through a Lynda's course or from a mentor? Good luck to everyone out there-- especially to those just wrapping up the midnight hustle. 😎

This one is simple: What is the thing you care or know about most? What does the best version of that thing look like? Now, how would that impact the lives of you and your family? How about everyone else involved? Do you find yourself seeing good things in this?
This isn't the part where we go on to ask why those things haven't been achieved, or why you haven't even begun. Any shame or bitterness that you might feel about this doesn't matter either. They are all in the past, and that is where they will stay.
This is why thinking about the future is such a great thing. You have the power to leave all of that in the past, and redirect your attention to the positive. This might look like: How can I clarify my goal? What is the very first step I can take toward it today? If either of those aren't knowable right now, what is the first step I can take toward figuring that out? 👷‍♂️

It's easy to think that your goals are too lofty to reach right now. It's easy to blame your obstacles. The thing you've been doing is easy too. What isn't easy is facing the fact that you might just stand a chance, and worse yet, that your biggest failure might be in not believing in yourself enough to try.
You see, our character is all we are, and often ends up being all we really leave behind.
And being remembered for great character means taking on the hardest tasks with grace and humility.
What is the hard thing in your life that you could start taking on today? This doesn't mean planning. It means actually picking up the phone, or starting that class, or making that bold request.
