It it so important to do some research when thinking about starting a home project. In the construction world, what you think it should cost vs. the reality can lead to some serious sticker shock. Below is a guideline for bathroom remodels and it is pretty spot on. Remember, this is an investment in your home. You don't want to skimp just to save a few hundred dollars. We have re-done so many jobs where the customer thought they were saving and hired the less expensive guy ( or Bob the unlicensed handyman) and instead of saving a few hundred, it cost them thousands.

In 2025, the national average price for a bathroom remodel is approximately $12,125. Most homeowners spend between $6,600 and $18,000, though the total can fluctuate significantly based on the room's size and the level of customization.

Average Cost by Bathroom Type
The type of bathroom being remodeled is one of the biggest price drivers:
Half-Bath / Powder Room: Typically costs $2,500 – $10,000. These smaller spaces usually only require a new sink and toilet.
Guest / Full Bathroom: Ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. These remodels often include a tub/shower combo, vanity, and toilet.
Primary / Master Bathroom: Costs between $20,000 and $50,000+. High-end suites featuring custom double vanities and spa-like walk-in showers often exceed $70,000.

Project Tiers (2025-2026 Estimates)
Tier Estimated Cost Range Common Upgrades

Basic Refresh $2,500 – $6,000 Paint, new hardware, lighting, and faucet updates.
Mid-Range $16,000 – $28,000 Professional installation of new flooring, vanity, and a prefab shower unit.
High-End / Luxury $35,000 – $75,000+ Custom tile, heated floors, rainfall showers, and layout changes.

Key Cost Factors
Labor: Typically accounts for 40% to 65% of the total project cost. Professionals like plumbers and electricians usually charge $45 – $200 per hour.
Layout Changes: Rerouting plumbing or electrical lines to move a toilet or sink can add an average of $5,000 to the bill.
Materials: Costs vary widely by quality. For example, standard ceramic tile starts around $1.50 per square foot, while luxury marble can exceed $50 per square foot.
Permits: Depending on the scope and location, building permits typically cost between $100 and $1,500.

DID YOU KNOW?
-As of July 1,2023, in the state of Florida, many construction related occupations will now need to have a state-issued license, not a local government-issued license.
-Any local government licenses in effect as of January 1, 2021, will expire on July 1, 2023.
-Local government-issued licenses will be considered INVALID as of July 1, 2023.

Here at Anchor Restoration and Maintenance Inc,, we are licensed by the state so the new bill is not a concern. Our community can continue to rely on our team of professionals to HANDLE all of their home remodel needs, without having to worry about possible consequences that may be faced by unknowingly hiring a contractor with an invalid license.

PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!
While this is just a list of many, there are some of the trades that will not be regulated by local governments after the 2023 deadline. This means they will need a state license in order to legally operate. As a homeowner, it’s important to keep this in mind for any home renovation project you have planned in 2023:
Cabinetry
Canvas awning
Caulking
Decorative stone
Driveway installation
Flooring
Granite
Handyman services
Interior remodeling
Marble
Ornamental iron installation
Painting
Plastering
Stuccoing
Tennis court installation
Terrazzo
Tile
Those specific trades listed within HB735 will now have to meet the licensing requirements in place by the state to obtain a new state license. As their local county-issued license will no longer be seen as valid by the State of Florida.

We are officially EPA Lead-Safe Certified!
What does this mean? Read below to find out!
When you’re renovating your home, it’s best to make sure that the company you hire is dedicated not only to improving your home but also to keeping it safe. Common renovation, repair, and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint (like sanding, cutting, replacing windows, and more) can create hazardous lead dust and chips, which can be harmful to adults and children. Home repairs that create even a small amount of lead dust are enough to poison children and put families at risk.

So this means that EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firms do everything they can to minimize the risk of danger from lead dust while working on your home!
