We’re excited to share that Morgridge Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has achieved LEED Platinum certification, setting a new standard for sustainability on campus. As the most sustainable building at UW-Madison, Morgridge Hall features energy-efficient systems, a high-performance envelope that includes triple glazing, and 359 rooftop solar panels—producing enough energy to power 182 average Wisconsin homes each year. Innovative stormwater capture and reuse for flush fixtures and irrigation, accessible green roofs, and biophilic design elements like indoor gardens and green walls reflect a holistic commitment to environmental stewardship and wellness.

Morgridge Hall is more than a building—it’s a vibrant center for interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and learning. Home to the School of Computer, Data and Information Sciences, it brings together students, faculty, and researchers organized around a dynamic, light-filled environment designed to foster connection and creativity. Every floor supports learning, wellness, and spontaneous collaboration, while public art and locally inspired materials celebrate Wisconsin’s landscape and culture.

Join us in celebrating this milestone and discover how Morgridge Hall is shaping the future of sustainable, human-centered academic spaces. For more information, visit our website: https://lmnarchitects.com/project/computer-data-information-sciences-university-of-wisconsin-madison

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating our ongoing commitment to a more sustainable future—one project and one community at a time. Our dedication to environmental stewardship is reflected in our 2030 reporting, which shows that our projects are achieving an average 80% reduction in fossil fuel energy use compared to the 2003 baseline set by the AIA 2030 Commitment. Through electrification, renewable energy, and innovative design, we’re helping to shape a healthier, more resilient world.

We’re especially excited to mark Earth Day this year with the upcoming opening of the Forest Trailhead at Woodland Park Zoo—a new gateway that connects visitors to the forests of the world and inspires a deeper appreciation for global biodiversity.

Join us in celebrating Earth Day by exploring local events, volunteering, or planning a visit to the Forest Trailhead when it opens next week. The recently completed Computing and Data Science Building at Stanford University is featured in the latest issue of Interior Design Magazine. The article, written by Lauren Gallow and featuring insights from Principal Stephen DeMayo, highlights how CoDa’s design fosters connectivity and innovation at the heart of Silicon Valley.

“In Northern California’s Silicon Valley, ideas move at the speed of code. Stanford University in Palo Alto is furthering this progress with its new Computing and Data Science building, which functions more like a connective network than a standalone object. The 167,000-square-foot CoDa, as the coeds call it, is by Seattle-based LMN Architects, which, ranking 141st among Interior Design’s Rising Giants, specializes in large-scale, sustainable, and community-focused civic, academic, and mixed-use projects that redefine urban infrastructure—and this project follows suit.”
