The stages of polishing, from inital grind, honing, densifier, and final polish, topped off with a clear protective coating that gets burnished for added shine!

Polishing is not just for looks. In fact, many commercial retailers and warehouses are switching from composite flooring to polished concrete (just got look at your nearest grocery store!). Polishing is a higher upfront expense, but has a rather quick and impactful ROI. Maintainance costs go down, replacement of flooring every 5-7yrs is no more, its more environmentally friendly, and with higher grade polishes, the reflectivity increases. This is HUGE. Think about the cost of lighting a 100k Square Foot facility. If polished concrete reflectivity can reduce your lighting cost by anywhere from 20%-30%, those savings are MASSIVE.

Been putting in some long days and long weeks lately! We are beyond grateful for our amazing, hard-working employees and partners in coordinating with each other to make it all work! Anything from small patios and sidewalks, to schools/parks, and even managing a custom pool / backyard makeover!

Give. Your. ALL.

The day before, we poured a 1200sf slab in Arlington. Today, we brought in extra man power for a mere 800sf slab. Why? Well, this pool has over a 30degree incline in it. And with the Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls and slab, this small slab became a sauna in the open sun. But we don't quit. And we don't back down from a challenge that most would laugh at and say "You're CRAZY!"

Embrace "the suck." Never quit before it's done. And stand by your word. Oh, and drink lots of Pedialyte.

Wow! Things have been BUSY this month! Black planter walls + sand finish steps / patio in Bellingham, foundations and slabs in Sedro-Woolley and Arlington, and poured the ICF walls and backfilling at the pool project in Lynden! Big thanks to and for jumping in and helping us knock some of these projects out with their deadlines!

Valley Concrete Solutions is looking to bring on a skilled Concrete finisher / form setter. With projects ranging from custom residential decorative flatwork and foundations, to commercial slabs and public works projects, we are looking for someone with experience in form-setting, reinforcement, and place/finish. Experience, personal tools, reliable transportation, consistent work ethic, and a teamwork mentality are a MUST.
Jobs are primarily in Whatcom and Skagit counties.

We are hiring!!

We have some really cool projects on the schedule for this year. From public works parks, decorative patios, new commercial facilities, and even some really cool design-build projects!

Looking for personnel that have experience in concrete forming, reinforcement, and finishing. Labor/apprentice, as well as experienced personnel that require minimal supervision.

While we don't offer the same "benefits" at this time that larger companies do, we make up for that with increased wages.

$20-30/ hour for entry level
$30-35 / hour for mid-range skill
$35-50+ / hour for fully competent, independent journeyman/foreman level work ethic and skill level.

For public works projects, Davis-Bacon wages are applied.

Who can tell me why today is special?

Well, if you guessed that it's Valley Concrete Solutions' 1st Birthday, you're right!

Wow, this year has gone by so fast, and has been such a blessing. From small residential jobs, public works projects, and commercial repairs/improvements, to teaching clients and helping business peers develop better systems and growth plans, we are so eager to see what the future holds. Our team is growing, and our reach for serving customers and contractors is ever improving.

Thank you ALL for every ounce of support, encouragement, and blessing that you've bestowed our way.

Some good friends surprised me with an ice cream cake when I received my first check/payment for the business. It was only fitting that my wife coordinated a similar event for today. Also fitting that today I found a new favorite Red Bull flavor, in a purple can, and posed it with a current structural slab repair project.

With 10+ years performing and managing many types of concrete projects, Valley Concrete Solutions isn't just "another concrete contractor." We go the extra mile, hold tight to American Concrete Institute and manufacturer specifications, and ensure that you are more than "satisfied" with your project.

Last week, we did a 2250sf driveway/parking lot for a gas station in Snoqualmie. Many concrete contractors would shy away from this, given low temperatures and logistics. We THRIVE in this, and ensure it is done properly. This week, we are working on a slab joint/crack repair project in Ferndale, using only the best methods and products, to ensure this manufacturing facility doesn't suffer with further issues, and can increase their production.

These two projects, back to back, demonstrate our diversity, expertise, and, ultimately, our drive to provide quality, expert solutions.

What are the benefits of polished concrete? Why should I consider this for my home or commercial space?

Polished concrete has many benefits. It is easy to clean and maintain, it is eco-friendly, it can be tranformed into a WIDE variety of visual appearances/unique designs, and it can actually save on you on your electrical bill! High gloss applications (think Home Depot, Costco, etc) have high light-reflectivity, allowing you to lower your lighting consumption without compromising actually lighting aspects. It is much easier to clean and maintain than VCT, laminate, vinyl, etc. And the sky is the limit with decorative possibilities!
