Paint and Praise Fridays

Paint and Praise Fridays Gather your painting supplies and come over to paint with other ladies from 9:30 to 1130 on Friday mornings. Feel free to share a psalm or praise as well!

This is open to anyone who enjoys painting and would like to get together with others to paint. Painting with others inspires us! I have 6 spots around my kitchen table so it will be very informal! Let me know of anyone you think might want to join us! I have basic watercolor supplies to get you started, but eventually you will want your own….a simple supply list will include…palette, watercolor p

aints, watercolor paper, brushes, water jug, a few photos that inspire you! We can begin with a mini 10 minute warm up painting…and then paint on our own! Eventually, we can paint a few greeting cards that we can use to encourage someone!!!!!!!! I use watercolor paints, acrylic is welcome..

It’s time to paint again. I’ve missed you! 👩‍🎨
I hope you’ve enjoyed your break.

Looking forward to someday getting back together, but not sure when that can be.... so, I’m going to be posting a weekly idea. 🖌This is an opportunity to get your watercolor supplies out again, and just enjoy some time mixing colors, letting the water do some of the work! Maybe sprinkle with salt to let pigmentation happen. It’s not about creating a masterpiece. I think you will find it relaxing and refreshing . 🎨

Post what you and your kids paint in the comments!
Kenzie has been learning this verse in homeschool.
It would make a lovely painting, and you can neatly write some of the words to inspire you and your family!

Your supplies can be ANY watercolor you have on hand, even the crayola pan paint that your kids use!
Guess what, if you see this and don’t have
any water colors, you can use coffee! Wouldn’t that be fun to try? That would be the perfect color to paint bread! Just use what is left over in your coffee pot☕️

May the blessings of the Lord be upon you. Nourish your soul today, by enjoying His Word! 🙏🏻

Here are our verses to inspire!

“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”... Jesus in John 6:35

And they all ate and were satisfied. Matthew :15:37

Can’t wait to see your paintings!!🖼

Post one that you did if you’d like.

Sep 9, 2019 - In this post, I'm going to show you how to paint five different watercolor lighthouses. We're going to keep it loose and fun!

Here are some ideas for warms ups and a little inspiration to practice using some of your watercolor techniques.
A few of these pics would make nice warm ups.
The beach scenes use rich pigment. Perhaps diluted 60% paint 40% water. They use the dry brush technique. Practice on scrap first to see if it has the look and color you want ...sliding your brush across the paper.
I included some still life ideas. You could easily grab 1, 3, or 5 simple objects from around your house and make a little still life. Try and have a light source coming in to make some cool shadows. Consider putting a cloth or patterned placemat under it. Work larger on your paper, it’s more interesting. Think composition.
Sketch out your shapes, notice where to preserve the whites, and then get going!
Have a great day painters!!

Dear Painters and Praisers🥰
Hope you are all doing well. I miss seeing you all and wonder how it’s going for you🤔
Here’s a passage to spend some time in, especially when you’re going through what seems to be a wilderness experience. 😔
May the Lord be everything to you. I pray He fills your day with hope.
I will write another post after this one with some painting ideas for the day. I wasn’t able to attach them here.
Feel free to drop me a private message and let me know how you are doing. I pray for you often, but if you have other requests feel free to share.

My Soul Thirsts for You - A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and....

Here’s an idea inspired by a butterfly to remind us of what we have come through, and if you want commemorate what a year 2020 has been.

A caterpillar cocoons itself in a chrysalis similarly to how we’ve been cocooned at home to stop the spread and flatten curve.

Like a butterfly, We can emerge transformed. It doesn’t matter if you improved yourself, or just survived. It may simply represent getting to the other side, a hope that never gives up, or renewing your mind daily in God’s Word.

Sketch and paint a butterfly for each day we’ve been at home. For Pennsylvania, today is day 49 since the closure of schools was announced.

Think about composition and placement. Perhaps showing a flight path using the rule of thirds. You don’t have to paint all 49 butterflies in a day! Just paint 5 a day for the next week.

Here’s a chart of butterflies from our area.
And an inspiration photo of what I’m talking about.
Consider adding a verse or quote, that kept you going during this time.

Good morning, painters. How have you been?
I miss you all and our time together! Here are some photos and paintings to inspire you. Today is a perfect day to paint.
An arched bridge, done in watercolor and acrylic, Covehead lighthouse in Nova Scotia, and some beach scenes.
I’ve tried to keep the shapes fairly simple. Do a light sketch and then begin!
Don’t forget to incorporate some of the techniques you’ve learned! (Wet on wet, charging color, dry brush, using a little salt, using rigger brush for grasses and thin branches, etc)
Feel free to share your work!

Paint and Praise....good morning, painters!

“Our hope is set on the living God”
I Tim 4:10

Thought you could sketch out the lion and the lamb today and have fun mixing and painting one of these inspirational pieces! Please feel free to post yours in the comments. This is a good one for the kids, too....art class!!! They will love it.

I also posted an old one of Brandon’s... it’s more of a peaceable kingdom painting. I’ve always loved it. 💕
I hope you’re still enjoying Ruth Chou Simons, The Art of Everyday Worship! May it be a blessing to your life!

If you really want to do this and have no paints I can leave some paint and paper outside for you to pick up!! Just message me! And I have a few copies of the book that I mentioned, also. Perfect for reading and reflecting on during this time of waiting!! Inbox me!!

The “Lion and the Lamb” passage is Revelation 5:5–6. The Lion and the Lamb both refer to Jesus Christ. He is both the conquering Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Lamb who was slain!!!! 🌈💕

5 And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing…🥰🙏🏻🌈💕

I miss you all so much! How are you doing? Praying for all of our Paint and Praiser’s today!

Paint and Praise with Kenzie!
Today’s challenge is to write out an encouragement Bible verse for your family. Pencil in your letters and then use a sharpie to trace over them. (Or paint them!)
You can make some of the important or key words bigger, or try using 2 different scripts for interest. (print and cursive). By using only 2-3 variations your painting will have cohesiveness.

Lightly sketch out a floral border, then paint with watercolor, acrylic, paint, color pencil, or markers to complete! (Whatever you might have on hand)

Now hang it somewhere in your house! See who notices. Someone WILL be encouraged and they will love that YOU did this!!

Take a photo and post it in the comments below to encourage friends!

Warm up.... small nest with eggs. You don’t need to use fancy paints. Do you have a kids set of crayola or pan paints? Get a cup for water and small brush.

Anything is possible! Experiment with color mixing!

Encourage us all with your nest of eggs and your verse!!
(Paint and Praiser’s.... use your rigger brush for some of the nest.)

Dear Painters,
It saddens me to say....
Due to the Corona Virus closing the Montgomery County schools for two weeks, I thought it best to cancel Paint and Praise for two weeks, since my kids will be home. I feel it’s best to be cautious.

I thought we could do a little virtual paint and praise on our own, so tomorrow I will upload some inspiration photos and hopefully share a technique video or two so you can follow along at home.

I hope you take the time to paint and share your finished pictures with us. I will miss you all.

Crashing waves and crocus’s in terra cotta pots.
Learned a technique of adding salt for pigmentation, and practiced on some mini sea and sky paintings.

Crocus was inspired by Marilyn Williams, watercolorist.

Join us tomorrow, Friday, March 6, for a little painting and praising. We are keeping it simple!
Please join us for some fellowship and fun!

We won’t be painting this! It’s just a gnarly tree that Trey loved when he went skiing out in Utah...
