Update on Sean and his cancer battle. From his wife Jill
I wanted to share this with you guys before I put it out for others.
Sean update:
We found out in October Sean’s bone marrow transplant was not looking promising at curing his AML. His leukemia came back, so he was put on chemo cycles to try to get him back to remission. On Jan 6, 2025 he had a bone marrow biopsy that showed cancer still present. Sean’s blood counts were very low and Sean had to be admitted to the hospital on Jan 15th for a cycle of chemo. to still be able to fight the leukemia. It was safer to do this round of chemo in-patient because of his low platelets and hemoglobin, and we were told to “over pack” for a week’s stay at the hospital. Well, a week’s stay has turned in almost a full 2 months in the hospital. Sean has done two rounds of chemotherapy since being admitted on Jan 15th. and his blood counts have not recovered. His platelet count has been consistently below 4,000, and his hemoglobin will hold for a day at 7, and then he needs blood to be able to feel okay.
For weeks we have been back and forth with the doctors about what can be done to keep Sean’s cancer under control, but with blasts being visible in his blood, and Sean blood counts not recovering the doctors feel that all FDA approved options have been exhausted. With us digesting all of this, Sean has made the decision to come home so he can be with his family. He will still be coming down to Penn every other day to receive blood products, but he will no longer be treating the leukemia. The goal now is to treat his symptoms and keep him feeling okay to be able to spend his remaining time with loved ones. We are praying for a miracle and that Gods plan does not include him taking Sean away from us. In the meantime we will be treasuring every moment together. We are grateful for all the love and support we have received and it is what has gotten us this far. Your continued prayers and support mean more than you can ever imagine. Forever grateful, the Rockett Family.
