NYS DEC Annual Burn Ban is now in effect as of today March 16 - May 14.
What's allowed -
Backyard Fire Pits (less than 3ft high and 4ft length & width or diameter)
Campfires (less than 3ft high and 4ft length & width or diameter)
Small Cooking Fires
Only charcoal or dry, clean, untreated, unpainted wood can be burned.
NEVER leave these fires unattended and extinguish them when you're done.
What's NOT ALLOWED -
Burning Garbage - includes household trash, plastic, rubber, etc
Burning Leaves
Both are prohibited year-round in the State of New York.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Amanda Lefton today announced that the annual statewide ban prohibiting residential brush burning begins March 16 and runs through May 14.
