📍Mammoth Cave National Park
is the longest Cave system known on Earth, with over 426 miles of surveyed passageways as of 2025.

Human History within the Cave stretches back over 2,000 years, when Indigenous People mined minerals here.
Stephen Bishop, an enslaved Black Man who taught Himself how to read &write, dramatically expanded knowledge of the Cave by crossing the treacherous “Bottomless Pit” &discovering iconic features, Troglobites &Trogloxenes Species some He named, including the River Styx &Lake Lethe, as well as Fat Man’s Misery, Gorin’s Dome, &the eyeless cave fish.

Remarkably, His Map showed a passage that later explorers confirmed as the Key link connecting Mammoth Cave to the Flint Ridge system 130 years later, in 1972.
This Natural Wonder of Kentucky is protected as both a UNESCO World Heritage Site &an International Biosphere Reserve. The cave maintains a constant climate of approximately 54°F (12°C) with 87% humidity. This was Grande Avenue, a 4mi guided tour requiring prior reservation. Plan Your visit accordingly.

↗️: 3.8k ft Elevation Gain
🗺️: Kings Mountain Trailhead
🚾: No Restrooms available

📝The trek up these two Mountains reward climbers with incredible views of Mount Hood, Jefferson, Adams, &the Pacific Ocean on clear days. The terrain is steep &rugged, with 23% grade, rock scrambling plus an exposed section with a fixed rope to assist You. The trail passes through areas affected by the historic Tillamook Burn, marked by tall tree snags, &is best tackled in Spring or Fall when wildflowers bloom or temperatures are mild—Summer heat &Winter ice make the trail extremely hazardous. No permits or fees are required, but parking at the Kings Mountain Trailhead off Highway 6 is limited to about a dozen cars, so arrive very early on weekends. iDo not recommend this hike for beginners, children, or dogs; You’ll need sturdy hiking shoes/boots, trekking poles, maybe gloves for the rope section, layered clothing for changing weather, &3L of Water to tackle the hardest hike in Tillamook State Forest of .

“We must neva forget that Black history is World history. It is not an elective, a footnote, or a trend. It is the foundation, the blueprint, the unshakable proof that We have always been here-building, creating, &leading!” -✨🌱

Despite the fame of Marshall Major Taylor a.k.a “The Worcester Whirlwind” who became the first Black American global sports superstar &the first African American World Champion in any sport when He won the 1‑mile sprint world championship in 1899—Black cycling history is filled with lesser‑known pioneers who fought simply for the right to ride &race. Taylor faced horrific racism, including physical attacks, death threats, &exclusion from training facilities, yet He persevered; even after the color line hardened, Black cyclists like Kitty Knox & Hardy Jackson turned to stunt riding in Vaudeville to make a living. The bicycle itself became an emblem of for Black citizens in the 1890s, offering a way to bypass segregated transportation.
Taylor died in obscurity &was buried in a pauper’s grave, but decades later his legacy was revived, &today the Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis—along with numerous Major Taylor Cycling Club chapters across the United States—stands as a lasting monument to his &others’ enduring impact on the sport.

Be formless, shapeless, like Water. You put Water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put Water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now Water flow or it can crash. Be water, my Friend.”

iRemembered literally calling this the Karaté Falls, the first time iHeard about it from a friend, &We both laughed!🤣
But this is
📍Cataract Falls,
Which is actually a stunning series of cascades rather than a single drop, located on the Western flank of Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, about an hour drive from Lee’s city of birth, San Francisco.
Following significant Winter or Spring rains, the trail transforms into a “waterfall wonderland,” with multiple tiers tumbling thru a lush canyon filled with Redwoods, ferns, &moss. The primary trail begins from Rock Springs trailhead, a moderately strenuous but popular hike with steep staircases &rewarding views of the gushing Cataract creek.
For the most spectacular experience, plan your visit between December &May when the creek is fully flowing.

“In the stillness of the Forest, every Tree whispers that Growth takes time, yet each season brings new Strength.” -✨🌱

The Forest Moon of Endor from Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi was filmed primarily in the Redwood National &State Parks in Northern California.
The famous speeder bike chase took place within Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, while the Ewok village &ground battle sequences were shot on private timberland near the Smith River, close to the
📍”Avenue of the Giants.”
Establishing shots of the dense forest also utilized Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park &Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Unfortunately, much of the private land used for the battle scenes was logged shortly after production ended, but the locations within the state parks remain protected &recognizable to visitors today.

Unpopular opinion:
This fall should’ve been named ‘Heaven’ instead of the
📍‘They are Killers’ falls..

{..The name “Yosemite” comes from the Southern Sierra Miwok word ‘Ɣoşé meti,’ which means “they are killers.”
It was used by neighboring Indigenous groups to refer to the Awahneechee People living in the Valley, who were known for being fierce &dangerous enemies.
When European first encountered the valley in the 1850s, they adopted the name “Yosemite” for both the people &the valley itself.. }

Wanna know what else is “killing” in this valley?
Not only The Four Mile Trail from which these ‘shots’ were fired, but also, how intriguingly distinctive the colors in that Rainbow were, seeing it in person on this day.
This National Park is indeed one of my ‘Heavens on Earth.’

Thawed or not, anytime is really the best to check out the tunnels.. unless the entrance is completely closed off by the giant icicles that formed during the Winter season like pictured in the cover of this reel.

Pro tips: Depending on the road conditions on I-80 around Truckee in the , your vehicle may need chains.
Also, bring microspikes for yourself.

“To erase Black history is to erase truth itself. We are not just stories of struggle; we are stories of strength, of brilliance, of revolution. We are the architects of culture and change.“ -✨🌱

{ The history of the Buffalo Soldiers in the National Parks is a profound yet often overlooked chapter in the stewardship of America’s natural treasures. Following the Civil War, African American regiments of the U.S. Army, nicknamed “Buffalo Soldiers” by Native American tribes, were assigned to pivotal duties in the nascent parks of the West during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. From 1899 to 1904, &sporadically thereafter, soldiers from the 9th Cavalry &24th Infantry Regiments served as the first park rangers in Yosemite &Sequoia National Parks, at a time when the National Park Service did not yet exist. Their monumental work included constructing trails, building roads, fighting wildfires, expelling poachers, &protecting wildlife &forests from illegal grazing, essentially establishing the model for park management &conservation. Despite facing severe racial prejudice &often being denied the recognition &accommodations afforded to their white counterparts, these soldiers performed their duties with exceptional skill &dedication, playing an indispensable role in preserving the nation’s most iconic landscapes for future generations. Their legacy stands as a testament to their service not only to their country but to the very ideal of protecting public lands, a contribution now increasingly honored within the historical narrative of the National Park System.}
