Happy Friday! This has been a great week of honoring the women who work here. Today we learn more about Kendall, our Vice President.

How long have you worked here?
On and off since 2004. A total of 16 years

How long have you worked in construction?
I have worked in Roofing 19 years

What was your last job before this?
Marketing Director at SA Roofing

What you like best about the construction industry?
I love all the people that I get to work with. You meet people from all walks of life and everyone seems to be pretty genuine and down to earth.

What is your favorite part of your job?
I love going to events and networking. I enjoy meeting new people and learning how I can help solve a problem.

What you hope to learn next in your career?
I want to learn more about my employees and how I can make working here more enjoyable.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self not to worry about other people’s opinions of you. Be loud, take up space and let the glitter sparkle!

Anything else you want to share?
I was the founder of the National Women in Roofing Oregon Council and a founding member of the national organization. I love working in roofing and love to speak to kids about the career paths that are available in this industry and the trades. Not everyone needs to go to college to make a 6 figure income. You just need a little grit and some hard work and you can go anywhere.

What was your last job before this?
Senior Accountant

What do you like best about the construction industry?
Everyday you learn something new.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Growth and learning opportunities this job offers excite me the most.

What do you hope to learn next in your career?
Learn about Roofing/Construction organizations and how they contribute to our industry.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Its okay to make mistakes and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

As we continue to celebrate Women in Construction week we take a trip down south.
Next up… Elayne, our Branch Manger at our California Office.

How long have you worked here?
I started at Long Beach Roofing in 2022, and I’ve been grateful for the experience since.

How long have you worked in construction?
I’ve been in the construction industry for 20 years now, starting at the age of 13, working alongside my father

What was your last job before this?
Before joining Long Beach Roofing, I was involved in General Construction.

What do you like best about the construction industry?
The constant opportunity to learn and grow in knowledge.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Building a supportive work family away from home.

What do you hope to learn next in your career?
I’m eager to deepen my expertise in roofing and construction practices, learning from veteran professionals to benefit future projects and customers.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Understand that while everything may seem daunting, the real challenge is in not taking action

Anything else you want to share?
As a woman in this industry, I find it incredibly fulfilling. It’s a realm where I thrive on challenges and constantly push my own boundaries. I’m passionate about passing on the wealth of knowledge I’ve gained to inspire the next generation and serve our customers better. I truly love what I do, and I’m honored to be part of Long Beach Roofing Family 😊 ❤

We are excited to celebrate Women in Construction Week. We will be featuring the amazing women who work here.
First up, we want to introduce Kaylee. She Just recently transitioned from our Accounting and HR team to Operations. Kaylee works in our Oregon office. We are so excited for her. We asked her a few questions. Here are her responses.

How long have you worked here?

How long have you worked in construction?
9 years

What was your last job before this?
Accounts Receivable for a residential developer

What do you like best about the construction industry?
It’s always a fun environment and fast paced

What is your favorite part of your job?
I love working with all the great people here.

What do you hope to learn next in your career?
Expanding my knowledge in operation coordinating

What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to keep dreaming! Never sweat the small stuff, it will pass, and great things will come.

Something else she wanted to share...
After moving back to Oregon from Idaho, I was able to get a job in accounting for a large contractor in Portland Oregon and I am not sure I’ll ever transfer out of construction. I really enjoy the fast pace, as well as the diversity of every day. In my current company, I have enjoyed working with amazing people who support one another. I hope to expand my career as an operations coordinator, and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.

Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal promoted Elayne Padron to branch manager at its California subsidiary, Long Beach Roofing; Padron brings 20 years of experience and now oversees daily operations.

Did you know that taking care of yourself leads to workplace safety? Working out regularly, getting a good nights rest and drinking lots of water are just a few things you can do to take care of your own body and help you stay alert on the job.

When we encourage each other we establish a connection that helps us all feel safe. When you feel safe with your coworkers you will likely speak up if you see something that might not be right. We want all employees to help encourage each other and work well together so they all feel they have a safe space to talk about safety.

When we start a job we do job walks with everyone who will be involved. At this time potential hazards are pointed out. As the job continues we like to continue to point out an hazards and recommend options to help if any new ones arise. Always keep an eye out and stay alert.
