We’re back at the nursery for open hours tomorrow from 2-6pm and it’s BYOB! Bring your own box to fill up with your new plant friends.

We’ve started a consignment corner at the nursery, and our very first partner is Studio K**i! We now carry hand made ceramic plant pots and earrings made by volunteers from this local ceramic studio. All profits go toward mutual aid efforts locally and in Palestine and Lebanon.

🔥The plants are comin' in hot this weekend!

It's both our Groundcover Day at the nursery AND the Arboretum Native Plant Sale tomorrow, Saturday March 28th 🌼

🌾 Groundcover Day, 10am-4pm
🪱 Groundcovers stay low to the ground and spread densely throughout your garden beds. They reduce the need to mulch and w**d while still contributing to a thriving soil life.

🍓 Whether the area is sunny, shady, moist, or dry, we’ve got something for you. Some of them are edible like Virginia strawberries while others carpet your beds with fragrant flowers like woodland phlox. Come by tomorrow and pick up these and many other kinds of native plants tomorrow!

🌿 This annual sale at the Arboretum puts you in good company, you'll be surrounded by other native plant lovers.

☀️ We’ll be bringing a selection of some of our favorite native perennials, choice spring ephemerals, and wildlife-supporting woody plants to enhance the beauty and ecological value of your home landscape.

🌱 Warmer Days Are COMING!

Like many of you, the ice and snow of recent days has us dreaming of warmer weather — seeing the ground again, spotting the first green shoots, and hearing pollinators return.

After some winter regrouping, we’re excited to share what’s ahead:

🌿 Nursery opens March 21!

Find us just behind Silver Spring United Methodist Church (8900 Georgia Ave). We’ll be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. starting March 21. Skip the long drives and pick up your first native plants of the season right here in downtown Silver Spring.

🌼 Find us at FONA – March 28!

We’re honored to return as vendors at the Friends of the National Arboretum’s Native Plant Sale. We’ll bring favorite native perennials, spring ephemerals, and wildlife-supporting woody plants to enhance the beauty and ecological value of your landscape. Come shop and say hello.

🌱 Schedule Your Spring Cleanup!

Thoughtful “cues for care” help showcase even the wildest garden. We offer ecologically friendly maintenance plans, as well as design and installation services — from refreshing a single bed to creating a full-yard oasis for you and wildlife.
