I am hopeful for the opportunity to serve our community and children by becoming a member of the GCASD School Board.

Last night was the reorganization meeting for the school and once again I was humble. I was elected as Vice President and will serve with Lee McCracken (President) to continue to move the district forward. Thank you.

More food for thought

“Each member of the team is critical to success, though the main effort and and supporting efforts must be clearly identified. If the overall team fails, everyone fails, even if a specific member or an element within the team did their job successfully. Pointing fingers and placing blame on others contributes to further dissension between teams and individuals. It was great to watch my sister today. Congrats to her for placing in the pole vault! Also huge shout out to both the boys and girls teams as a whole. They both took home the D10 championships! Fly eagles!

With the approaching election I continue to reflect on what is necessary to continue to bring our district back to the shining example that it once was. I keep coming back to the principle of “we not me”. Our kids do not need political parties. Our community members do not need hollow campaign promises. What our district needs is for egos to be checked at the door and board members to look in the mirror and make the hard choices that require calm civil honest discussion. If basic respect can not be achieved we our district will never return to that place. You may be wondering what you can do to help...Vote! Please vote on Tuesday.

While I am sure that most of you are aware of the preliminary budget vote that took place last evening and how divisive the topic of the school budget can be, I feel it is the responsibility of the board to work together as a team. No one person or group is more/less responsible for the passing of the budget than another. Regardless of how an individual votes, it is still that member’s roll to come along side the other board members and work together as a team for the best possible outcome. With the election coming up - as a voter you should not tolerate anything less than professional decorum, civility, and leadership from every member that you vote for. If elected, I will strive to achieve the characteristics listed above.
