Project Spotlight: Asheville Regional Airport Baggage Claim

Fountain Electric is proud to serve as the electrical contractor on one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Western North Carolina, the expansion and renovation of Asheville Regional Airport. The AVL Forward project is being led by general contractor and construction manager HENSEL PHELPS, with Gresham Smith serving as lead project architect.

AVL has seen steady growth in passenger traffic in recent years, and this project reflects the region's continued investment in modern, capable facilities for travelers and the community at large. Our team has been on-site through multiple phases of this complex, active-facility build, navigating the unique demands that come with working in and around a fully operational airport.

Most recently, our crew completed the electrical work on the new baggage claim area, one of the first spaces passengers encounter upon arrival. From conduit runs and panel work to coordination with the general contractor and other trades, the team delivered with the precision and professionalism this project demands. The new area opened to airport visitors this spring.

With that phase behind us, we're moving forward into the next stage of the expansion, bringing the same focus and craftsmanship to every step of the job. Projects like this one are a reminder of why the work we do matters. The infrastructure we install today will serve this region and its visitors for decades to come, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our ResCom electricians spent this morning in the classroom, joining our Heating & Air division for a cross-discipline training session led by HVAC Service Manager Nathan B. Learning how our trades connect makes our whole team stronger, and that's a win for every customer we serve.

This morning, our HVAC Service Manager Nathan B. led a training session on diagnosing common HVAC issues, and we brought the whole crew along for it. Technicians from Fountain Plumbing Services and Fountain Electric & Services were on-hand to get a closer look at cross-discipline processes and procedures.

A stronger, better connected team means better service for every home and business we touch.

Summer heat doesn't just push your AC to the limit, it puts your electrical system to work too. When temperatures climb, your home draws more power to keep up, and that adds up fast on your energy bill.

Small habits make a big difference: keeping your thermostat at a consistent temperature, running ceiling fans counterclockwise to push cool air down, and making sure your system isn't working harder than it needs to.

Speaking of which, our friends at Fountain Heating & Air are sharing a great reminder today about one of the easiest ways to keep your HVAC running efficiently this summer. Check it out on their page!

Your filter is one of the smallest parts of your HVAC system, and one of the most important. A clogged filter forces your system to work harder, drives up your energy bill, and can lead to bigger problems down the road. A fresh filter every 1–3 months keeps the air cleaner and your system running the way it should.

Changed your filter but still noticing issues? That's where we come in. Our team can diagnose what's going on and get your home comfortable again before the heat really sets in. Give us a call or schedule online at FountainHeatingAndAir.com.

Did you know that homes built before 1980 have wiring that wasn't designed to handle today's electrical load? When console TVs were the height of technology, households weren't powering high-efficiency HVAC units, smart appliances, and electric vehicles all at once. And nearly everything these days requires charging.

Older wiring paired with modern appliances is a combination worth evaluating. Overloaded circuits and outdated panels can quietly turn into serious safety hazards.

As we wrap up National Electrical Safety Month, it is a great time to take a look at your home's electrical health and consider whether your system is truly equipped to keep up with your modern lifestyle.

Today, our Spindale campus team took a break for something often overlooked, their health. We hosted a Lunch and Learn featuring Andrea Gill, RN, from Advosee, a personalized healthcare and benefits advocacy service. The session covered health and wellbeing in the workplace, benefits navigation, screening tips, and a look at new technologies to help our people better understand and manage their health. Lunch was catered by our friends at Chick-fil-A Forest City.

We believe taking care of our team goes beyond the jobsite. When our people have the tools and support to stay healthy and informed, everybody wins.
