MSE Wall vs. Gravity Boulder Wall

On some projects, we build Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls, where geogrid reinforces the soil behind the wall to support the mass and slope above.

On this one, it’s a gravity boulder retaining wall, so we rely on the sheer mass of the boulders, backed with quarry spalls, to retain the slope above. No geogrid, just rock doing what rock does best, simple, strong, and built to hold.
