Nobody is coming to save you.
Thatโs not a motivational quote I read on the internet. Thatโs a lesson I learned the hard way.
Ten years ago, I was at the bottom. I lost my mom and my money at the exact same time, and it broke me. I was battling a op**te addiction, dealing with severe mental health struggles (bipolar 1 and schizoaffective disorder), and sitting in a jail cell. I had nothing left. The only person who stood by me was my girlfriend. Everyone else was gone.
I had a choice to make: stay at the bottom, or build my way out. I chose to build. I got clean. I stayed clean. I started AJ's Handyman Services from absolute scratch, with no loans, no handouts, and no safety net. Just 20 years of woodworking experience, a set of tools, and the refusal to quit. Today I own a business I'm proud of. I build custom furniture, fix homes across Springfield, and travel doing commercial facility maintenance. I'm telling you this because I know what it feels like to think it's over. Itโs not. If you are at the bottom right now, pick up a hammer. Pick up a pen. Pick up whatever tool you have and start building your way out.
Nobody is coming to save you. But the good news is, you can save yourself.
