Past me thought becoming an artist would mostly mean painting whenever inspiration hit.
Present me knows the artist life actually means long hours in the studio, paint everywhere, way too many art supplies, starting paintings that might not work, fixing paintings I thought were finished, and thinking about art even when Iâm not in the studio.
Building an art career is a lot of trial and error, a lot of experimenting, and a lot of learning how to keep going when something doesnât turn out the way you imagined.
Some days being an artist feels like the hardest career path I couldâve chosen.
But somehow painting and making art is also the most fun and the most frustrating thing at the same time.
So if I could go back and warn past me about the artist life, I probably would.
Not to stop her.
Just so she knew what she was signing up for. đ¨
