“The truth is, you’re really appreciated.”

Sr. Superintendent, Matt Hovey, prepared for a sub meeting to encourage the teams. As he sat with his notes, he reflected, “you get a sense of pride if people want to work with you. We all want good working relationships. When the tradesman feels appreciated or personally fulfilled in their work, it is easier to keep to the project moving efficiently in every way. Often paychecks are not the sole driving force to feel appreciated and needed. Empowering others by communicating that it takes all of us to succeed can have a very positive impact on a project. We let them know that we see the extra efforts they put in, and they are appreciated. Often, we’re not only mentoring MBG colleagues, but our trade partners' tradesman as well.”

Site work is officially underway at our Castle Creek project! This new LIHTC community will bring 144 affordable homes to Columbus, OH. “Getting to this point took months of coordinating permitting, utility notifications, and subcontractor buyout,” explained Project Manager, Jason Edwards. “The unglamorous work that must happen before the first shovel hits dirt.”

Leading the field team is Superintendent, Scott Giles. He’s keeping day-to-day operations safe, on schedule, and moving in the right direction. Handling sitework and excavation is Bedrock Excavating, bringing the crew and equipment to set the foundation for everything that comes next.

It's a good reminder that construction progress isn't just what you see above ground. It's the planning and coordination that makes the visible work possible.

At MBG, our team steps into scope gaps, solves problems proactively, and protects the schedule. Maybe that’s why celebrating the grand opening of Prairie Encore was that much sweeter.

This build brought new challenges to our table. “Phased building while residents were living there was tricky,” explained Senior Project Manager Jesse Schilligo. “We needed to keep it clean and quiet while building in their home.”

Incredible progress is happening at The Heights in Fenton/Valley Park!

This week every interior finish will be underway across the project, and two full carpenter crews continue. Move-ins are just weeks away, and demand has already exceeded the number of available apartments.

A special shoutout to intern Koi Birch-Barnard, who has been Superintendent Adam Duchon's right-hand man throughout the project. From learning the inspection process to helping pass inspections one after another, Koi has embraced every opportunity to grow in the field.

The Heights at Williams Bluff, located at I-44 and Highway 141 in Fenton/Valley Park, MO, is a 216-unit community by Mia Rose Holdings, LLC featuring a clubhouse, pool, and thoughtfully designed apartment homes.

But what really defines this project is the MBG team's ability to .

When site logistics made it impossible for 53-foot semis to reach the buildings, the team didn't see a roadblock, they found a solution. Interns Koi and Charles helped build removable walls for MBG’s trailer and the team loads the smaller trailer helping make deliveries possible.

"We had to think of a solution. This is not standard practice,” explained Project Manager Devin Bringus. And sometimes that meant backing a trailer 428 yards uphill with a crowd watching.

We’re down to just 3 buildings left to frame!

“The momentum on this project has been incredible,” reported Superintedent, Jeremy walls. “Throughout July, we're turning over one building every week. With 3 buildings already delivered and 4 more scheduled this month, that’s 7 buildings turned over in just 2 months!”

Savannah Pike Creek II is a 146-unit build-to-rent community in Kenosha, WI. Our trade partners have been putting in the work every single day, and the results speak for themselves. “Thanks to everyone's commitment, we will continue to turn an average of a building per week so there’s no rest for the weary,” said Senior Project Manager, Jeremiah Cox.
