Did you know your builder can dictate the shape of your roof?
On this covered deck that we designed and built, the objective was to have a vaulted ceiling where the ridge centered on the fire place. Additionally we did not want the ridge to exceed the main roof line of the house to where it’s visible from the street. Last, budget was of concern. With a ridge perpendicular to the house, the retaining wall would have been much larger to accommodate the fire place at the end of the deck. The budget did not allow for this.
We put to work our years of building experience to design this unique vaulted lean-to style truss. The manufacturer engineered it and we had a green light. The final product was a two story stucco fireplace with a complete screen system for the upper deck. The lower patio became an additional dry space with the use of an integrated underdeck system.
What was a dangerously sloped backyard became a beautiful space that checked the Client’s boxes and has provided them gainful use for years.
