Last night, June 9, 2026, someone pulled up in their car, opened the door… and drove off.

And he stayed there, motionless, lost, watching the only car he knew disappear into the distance.

When he was finally found, his small body already told his story.

This Chihuahua was terribly thin: his ribs and hips bulged out clearly beneath his skin. Bald patches on his back, and scars, bore the marks of a difficult past. He wasn't a dog who had known comfort, stability, or love for a long time.🐕

Once inside, his survival instinct took over.

He ate quickly, urgently, as if each bite could be his last. He drank an entire bowl of water without stopping. Hunger and thirst had been his constant companions.

And then… something incredible happened.

He wagged his tail.

Despite everything he'd been through, this sweet little Chihuahua clung to kindness. He licked hands. He stayed close. He trusted. In his eyes, there was no fear. No anger. Just quiet gratitude and a fragile hope that, perhaps… this time, it would be different.

The vet was closed the day before yesterday, June 7, 2026.

There are questions we can't answer yet. Worries we'll face tomorrow.

But tonight, one thing matters more than anything.🐶

Tonight, Paco is warm.

Tonight, he ate his fill.

Tonight, he is safe.

Snuggled up on a soft bed, this sweet little guy can finally rest—choosing trust after being abandoned, choosing love after being rejected.

Someone left him behind.

But Paco, despite all the reasons to no longer believe in it, still believes in love. 🐾❤️

Ellie Has Been Safely Caught! 🐾❤️

After a very long and stressful 7 days, Ellie is finally safe!

This sweet girl certainly knew how to hide. Throughout the week, sightings were few and far between, and every time she was spotted, traps were moved and additional posters were hung in an effort to stay one step ahead of her. During her adventure, Ellie traveled an incredible 15.7 miles, moving through reservoirs, busy roads, and quiet neighborhoods.

Early this morning, we received a call that Ellie was in a homeowner’s backyard, resting near their pool. The homeowners weren’t sure how she got into the yard, but they noticed she appeared to be looking for a way out. CTDGRV Melissa and Jill advised them to leave her alone and immediately headed to the location.

Once on scene, with the help of the homeowners and Ellie’s owner, a barrier was created along the outside of the fence in case Ellie attempted to escape. CTDGRV Melissa entered the yard and played Ellie’s owner’s voice on her phone, which helped calm her. Ellie made a few laps around the yard before Melissa was able to slowly crawl close enough to safely slip a leash on her.

This rescue would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of the entire Fairfield County Team.

A huge thank you to CTDGRV Jill, Gian, Pat, Laura, Gabbie, Mary, Mary, Hailey, Christina, Kristen, and Melissa for hanging posters, creating social media posts, setting traps and cameras, and spending countless hours-including nights sleeping in their cars-to help bring Ellie to safety.

A very special thank you to the homeowners who made the critical call at 1:00 AM and graciously allowed us access to their yard until 3:00 AM while we worked to safely secure Ellie.

Welcome home, sweet girl. ❤️

🚨🚨 This very scared girl has now moved into New Canaan- it is very important not to call her out or chase her. She is very dog friendly and may come to another dog- if she approaches please sit on the ground and try to get a leash on her. If she does not approach please to not go after her. 🚨🚨

Missing in Stamford. This female mini Australian Shepherd escaped from the W. Haviland Lane area on 6/7. Pls no negative comments. Do NOT call out or chase. If seen, call/text the # on the flyer with details on when and where you saw her. If you live in the area, please check security cameras. Thank you
