South River Irrigation has openings for an irrigation apprentice, laborer, and service technician. These are full time positions. Entry level tasks include digging trenches and installing PVC pipe and sprinkler heads. Laborers are typically part of a 3-4 man team. Service technician will utilize common troubleshooting equipment such as a volt meter, wire tracer, etc. After training, a service technician would primarily work individually. We've been in business for over 30 years and are based in Staunton. Hours are primarily weekday/daylight. Our winterization crews are working 6 days per week now from 7 am to 6 pm. Call us to schedule your fall shutdown if you haven't already sent in a service contract. Don't forget to disconnect garden hoses from the spigots on the side of your house. They are not frost-free unless all attachments are removed!

The irrigation system at this site is one of smartest, most efficient systems around. There are three 2500 gallon storage tanks to collect rainwater. The irrigation system uses this water first before automatically switching to well water if the tanks are empty. All water is delivered to the landscape via a Netafim drip system (even the turf). A TORO Intellisense controller is the "brain" of the system. It can be programmed conventionally or it can download ET(evapotranspiration) weather data from a NOAA satellite and automatically adjust the run times according to the current site conditions.
