💧 OVER FIVE YEARS UNUSED. COMPONENTS FROM THE 1980s. NOW THIS SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS BEING REBUILT THE RIGHT WAY.

When these Saint Clair Shores homeowners moved in five years ago, they never used the existing irrigation system. The interior gate valve was stuck closed, most of the sprinkler heads and timer dated back to the 1980s, and the original layout left parts of the lawn without proper coverage while sending water toward the sidewalk.

This is not a quick patch—it’s a complete system revamp.

Work so far has included replacing the old heads and fittings, upgrading the stuck gate valve, converting the front spray zone into a lower-GPM rotor zone, relocating poorly positioned heads and redesigning the side-yard coverage.

A new 1-inch poly line was run beneath the sidewalk to reach previously missed grass areas, additional sprays were added, and roots blocking the new line’s path were removed. A new backflow assembly was also installed, professionally tested and passed.

The system is still a work in progress. Final adjustments, complete zone testing and footage of the lawn’s improvement are still to come.

💧 YOUR IRRIGATION PUMP IS RUNNING—SO WHY AREN’T THE SPRINKLERS WORKING?

A weak sprinkler zone doesn’t automatically mean the pump has failed. Lost prime, a clogged intake, a suction-line air leak, a faulty check valve or a pump-start relay problem can all produce similar symptoms.

Before replacing expensive equipment, the entire system should be diagnosed—from the water source and intake to the pump, controls, valves and sprinkler heads.

If your pump is slow to prime, losing pressure, making unusual noises or running without moving water, turn it off before additional damage occurs.

😳 THIS OLD PIPE LITERALLY POPPED RIGHT OFF.

During this irrigation-system revamp, we discovered that the glue holding this old PVC connection had completely failed. No cutting or heavy force was needed—the pipe simply pulled apart by hand.

A failed connection like this can lead to leaks, reduced pressure and unreliable performance throughout the sprinkler system. The damaged piping was removed, a new backflow preventer was installed with new copper connections and the cracked three-valve manifold was replaced.

We’re also repairing multiple leaks across the existing zones, replacing four leaking sprays, adding two rotors and improving the layout to provide the property with more complete coverage.

💧 DAY 2 OF A MAJOR IRRIGATION REVAMP IN SAINT CLAIR SHORES!

After installing the new backflow, we discovered a cracked three-valve manifold and multiple leaks throughout all three existing zones.

The manifold was replaced, the leaks were addressed, two rotors were added and four leaking sprays were replaced. Next, we’ll rework two existing zones and add a fourth to provide the property with more complete, efficient coverage.
