Plant of the Week: Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica)! ❤️💛

A beautiful native perennial with unique red, tubular flowers that open to reveal bright yellow star-shaped centers. Indian Pink is a fantastic addition to a shade garden and is especially loved by hummingbirds! 🐦🌺

🌺 PLANT OF THE WEEK: YELLOW HIBISCUS! 🌺

Bright, bold, and absolutely loving the summer heat! 💛🌿 This gorgeous Yellow Hibiscus is putting on quite the show with its huge, sunny-yellow blooms!

🌱 A few fun facts:
• 🌞 Hibiscus loves plenty of sunshine and warmth.
• 🌺 Each flower may only last a day, but new blooms keep coming!
• 🦋 The big, colorful flowers can attract butterflies and other pollinators.
• 💦 They enjoy consistent watering, especially during hot Oklahoma summers.
• ✂️ Regular pruning can help keep plants bushy and encourage more blooms.
• 🪴 Hibiscus can be grown in containers, making them perfect for patios and porches!

💛 Why we love it: There’s just something about a hibiscus in full bloom that screams SUMMER! These tropical-looking flowers bring a huge pop of color to the garden and look amazing against their deep green foliage.

Don’t let the funny name fool you—Hairy Balls Milkweed (Gomphocarpus physocarpus) is one of the most unique and conversation-starting plants you can grow! 😂💚

✨ Fun Facts: 🌱 Also known as Swan Plant or Balloon Cotton-Bush 🟢 Its famous round, balloon-like seed pods are covered in soft, hair-like spines—giving it the hilarious nickname “Hairy Balls!” 🦋 It’s a host plant for Monarch caterpillars, meaning Monarch butterflies may lay their eggs on it for their babies to munch on! 🌸 Produces small, delicate white flowers with a touch of purple. 🌞 Loves full sun and warm weather. 💧 Once established, it can handle some dry conditions, though it appreciates regular watering during extreme Oklahoma heat.

If you’re looking for a plant that’s funny, funky, and butterfly-friendly, Hairy Balls Milkweed might be the perfect addition to your garden! 🦋🌿
