Notice of Road Construction Impacting Access to Sturgeon Bay Utilities Office

The City of Sturgeon Bay, in cooperation with Sturgeon Bay Utilities, has scheduled a road reconstruction project on E. Vine Street from S. Oxford Avenue to Shorecrest Road. Construction will take place through the end of May 2026.

During this time, access to the Sturgeon Bay Utilities Office will be intermittently disrupted. Contractors will maintain access whenever possible. Please follow all posted road construction and detour signage. A project detour map is available for your reference.
At certain stages of the project, access to the Utilities Office may be temporarily unavailable. During these periods, staff will remain available to assist you by phone at 920-746-2820 or by email at [email protected].

Please note that access to the utility drop box may also be affected during limited access periods. Customers who typically drop off payments at the Utilities Office, can still deliver their utility bill payment to Sturgeon Bay City Hall or at their local banking institutions in Sturgeon Bay.

Sturgeon Bay Utilities encourages customers to enroll in electronic bill payment. Payments can be made through automatic withdrawal from a checking or savings account. To enroll, please complete the online automatic payment registration form, download and submit the automatic payment plan agreement, or contact our office at 920-746-2820 to request a form by mail.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve infrastructure in your community.

SBU is seeking the community’s help locating a pair of gloves (pictured below) that fell off one of our trucks yesterday afternoon. The rubber gloves were in a white canvas bag with black lettering. We believe the bag with gloves fell off the truck somewhere around Shiloh Rd and Mount Olive Rd, the truck then took Cty S back to our office at 230 E Vine St. We will provide a reward for anyone who finds the bag. Please call our office at (920) 746-2820 if you find the gloves. We appreciate your help!

It appears that SBU experienced an equipment failure at our Michigan St substation this morning. Multiple line crews responded immediately, and power was restored to all customers within approximately 45 minutes. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage caused and appreciate your calls and positive comments. No electric distribution system is completely bullet proof but we continue to strive to provide you with the most reliable service possible. Again, thank you for your patience and we appreciate your business.

“As chair of the WPPI Energy Board of Directors, I have seen firsthand the power of joint action and how working together makes every member even stronger. My role as general manager of Sturgeon Bay Utilities has only bolstered my belief in locally owned utilities. Public power makes our community better. By partnering with 50 other municipally owned utilities, we enhance our work to better serve the homes and businesses of our own community through collaboration with others. When our members are unified and engaged, there’s nothing that can hinder us from achieving our goals. That’s the shared strength of WPPI Energy.”
– Jim Stawicki, Sturgeon Bay Utilities general manager and chair of the WPPI Energy Board of Directors
