I love getting reviews from happy customers!

This is the difference between a service-first HVAC company and a sales-first company. When you call Reliable Air, you get a trained, experienced technician focused on finding the actual problem, not finding the most expensive thing to sell you.

This week, a customer was told that they needed a new system due to it leaking. They were quoted $8500 to replace it.

We went out for a free estimate to replace it, but I was able to find the leak within a few minutes. Tightened the fitting with a wrench, and the leak stopped.

Added UV dye and refilled it with R410a. Got it cooling properly that day. Went back today and searched for leaks with a UV light. Found no evidence of further leaks, and the system is working great.

Saved the customer almost $8,000 by taking the time to properly diagnose and repair the system instead of just selling them something like a big company would have.

I'm proud of the work I do, and of doing it honestly.

I'm pretty terrible about taking good before and after pics. I'm not savvy with social media, I'm savvy with fixing things. But here's my work. I only wish I'd remembered to get pics before we moved the washer and dryer back in lol

As you can see, the original system had drainage issues for years, and had destroyed the floor under the system. At this job, the entire subfloor and flooring was replaced to complete the install. All the drainage issues are fixed, and the system properly drains water to a trap outside, into a nice gravel bed, as it should.

The customer also had issues with their filter. The old filter rack seemed like it was put in a an afterthought by the original installer. They had a reusable filter that they had to wash, which was falling apart after years of use. We put in a custom made return air box that includes a durable filter rack with a door that snaps closed tightly. We also wrote the filter size (16×20x1, easy to buy anywhere for cheap) so that the homeowner wouldn't ever have to guess if he was getting the right one.

Another new heating and cooling system installed and keeping the customer cool in this heat!

We put in a new outdoor heat pump unit and air handler, new, clean refrigerant piping, and easy-to-find filter access for the homeowner. We also replaced all the ductwork in the crawl space and made sure it was properly sealed.

Here's Jocelyn, securing a new capacitor on a Rheem system that's nearly twice her age, for a customer in Bright. I thought the contrast between the young apprentice and the old system was pretty cool. The customers were very happy with how fast we were able to fix their system and left us this five star review on Google.

44 years old. Cooling again on a Sunday.

This old Heil air conditioner was manufactured in 1982. After more than four decades of service, it quit cooling because a compressor wire had burned open.

After diagnosing the problem, I repaired the damaged wiring, tested the system, and restored cooling, all for my standard $99 service call.

While checking the system, I found the compressor drawing more current than I would expect. It is still running and cooling, but those readings suggest the compressor is nearing the end of its service life. I explained my findings, answered the homeowner's questions, and provided an estimate for replacement so they can make an informed decision when the time is right.

One thing that sets Reliable Air apart is that I do not believe every older system should automatically be replaced. If a repair is safe, practical, and makes financial sense, I will recommend the repair. If replacement is the better investment, I will explain exactly why and let the customer decide. Honest recommendations will always come before sales.

Don't ignore it!

A frozen evaporator coil is not normal! While your air conditioner may still be running, the ice is a symptom of an underlying problem that needs to be corrected.

Common causes include:
• Dirty or restricted air filter
• Airflow restrictions
• Low refrigerant from a leak
• Blower motor or blower wheel issues
• Refrigerant metering device problems

If you notice ice forming:
✅ Turn the system OFF and set the thermostat fan to ON. This helps thaw the ice and can prevent damage to the compressor.

❌ Don't keep trying to cool the house while the coil is frozen. The system cannot absorb heat properly, and continued operation can lead to more expensive repairs.

❌ Don't chip or scrape the ice off the coil. It's easy to damage the delicate aluminum fins or refrigerant tubing.

Once the ice has melted, the system should be professionally diagnosed to determine why it froze in the first place. Simply thawing it doesn't fix the underlying issue.

With temperatures this hot in Southeast Indiana, HVAC companies are extremely busy. If your system starts freezing up, don't wait until it stops cooling completely.
