This client had been getting monthly pumping by another company for the last 4 months until we were called today. I instantly recognized the relentless flow of water coming from the house despite no water actually being used. After going to the basement I immediately noticed the water conditioner discharge plumbed into the sewer line and the water conditioner stuck on backwash cycle endlessly loading the septic tank with water. If you have a water conditioner and are constantly needing your septic tank pumped be sure to check it as this is a common problem. Give us a call if you are unsure and we will be glad to help!

If you own a home built between 1940-1970 in Wilmington and surrounding areas chances are you have a septic system like this. When these systems need pumping always inform the technician that these systems (although old) are in fact precast tanks with two chambers that require pumping. The owner of this particular property has had the tank serviced multiple times over the decades but did not know until we arrived today that they had a second chamber to be pumped.

If you have a septic system requiring a subsurface operator (ORC), always choose an operator with experience in the system that you have. This particular system requires biannual inspection however the previous operator neglected a bad root growth issue that lead to a failure and very expensive repair.
