Join Black Artist League Tomorrow for our LAST General Body event of the semester!

"CHIRAQ" is taking place Thursday, December 10th at 7pm in SCHINE 228B.

This feature film by Spike Lee that was released in major cities this past weekend and will be officially released nationwide in January. The movie highlights the gun violence in Chicago in the form of a modern-day adaptation of a Greek play where women withheld sexual privileges to keep their men from fighting in the war.

Join us as we listen to selected songs from this exclusive soundtrack, sent to us by SONY Music and RCA Records, as well as have a discussion revolving around this controversial movie.

Blessings All... I just sent an email to the Office of Student Life and OMA about BAL becoming a recognized org again. Please see below. I will let you know if I get a response! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’―

Good evening Office of Student Activities & Office of Multicultural Affairs,

I hope this day finds you in good spirits.

I am reaching out to you today in an effort to get additional information about a student organization named Black Artist League (BAL). This organization use to be a recognized student organization (RSO) on the prestigious Syracuse University campus. I was saddened to recently hear that the organization is no longer active within the student life community. As one of the past Presidents of BAL from 2005-2007, I am trying to connect with someone who I can speak with to try to re- energize this organization, as it had such presence and rich history on campus.

In addition, many Alumni/Alumna wanted to see if there was any archived data, awards and items left from the organization or if the items were discarded? This is particularity important since the organization did have office space and a mailbox. I have since graduated from the University in 2007; however, I wanted to see what are the required steps in order to seek more details on reclamation efforts and locate any items left behind.

Can someone please contact me to discuss how we can breath new life into BAL and again make this a RSO? If not for the Spring 2015 semester, for at least starting in the 2015-2016 academic year.

I look forward to your response as this was a great passion of many people apart of the organization, especially mine, when we were students on campus.

Happy Holidays!

Kind regards,

Jasmine P. Thompson
