Garbage Can Concealment Platform Project
This project involved designing and building a 6’ x 12’ elevated platform to securely and aesthetically house garbage cans. The platform was constructed using 2” x 6” treated lumber with 4”x4” posts on concrete footings and topped with durable Trex deck boards for a polished, weather-resistant finish.
Key features include:
• Aesthetic Integration: The platform includes a 4-foot-tall plywood wall and two side panels, painted and finished to perfectly match the adjacent garage. The structure’s white color and black trim create a cohesive appearance, making it seem as though it was built simultaneously with the garage and home.
• Functional Elevation: The structure is elevated using concrete footings at all support points, ensuring stability and preventing soil contact. This design aligns the deck’s height with the driveway, enabling easy rolling of garbage cans directly onto the platform.
• Concealment: The walls and sides effectively hide the garbage cans, maintaining the clean and organized aesthetic of the property.
The final product combines functionality, durability, and design, providing a seamless solution for garbage can storage that blends naturally with the surrounding architecture.
