High winds ⚠️ Be cautious ⚠️
- Gas appliances with standing pilots may be blow out.
-High winds may affect P-Traps in the home causing sewer gas odors.
-Vent Stack Disruptions: Winds blowing over the roof vent stack create low pressure (suction), drawing water out of traps and causing gurgling sounds, particularly in toilets.
-Toilet Water Motion: Strong winds can make toilet water move or cause the water level in the bowl to drop because the vacuum effect pulls water through the trap.
-Structural Damage to Pipes: High winds can damage exposed pipes, while related falling debris or shifting soil (from heavy rain) can break underground, sewer, or exterior pipes.
-Tree Root Infiltration: Wind-induced motion can snap tree roots, causing them to break into and clog sewer
