We have entered the last few weeks of the season to safely remove your mistletoe to help your trees recover best! We have flat rates for half days or full days (for properties with multiple mistletoe-infected trees) or get a quote on a single tree or two.
Facts about mistletoe:
- NorthAmerican mistletoe is (lightly) toxic to animals and humans
- mistletoe is highly flammable, therefore is a wildfire hazard
- mistletoe is a parasitic plant that will eventually kill it’s host tree- creating more fire hazards
- mistletoe weakens the immune system of its host, leaving it more susceptible to drought damage and breakage from wind, rain, and weight
- mistletoe is easily spread from tree to tree from birds landing in infected trees. By keeping your trees clear of mistletoe, you can help prevent further spread!
- once imbedded in a branch, mistletoe saps that branch of life and nutrients while sending a root back to infect the next limb. Since the drought, simply shooting it out with a shotgun doesn’t work anymore, folks!
Trees are dying left and right and nobody wants to lose their summer shade!
