🚪Wireless Door Position Monitoring:

🌪A couple of years ago, this door took a beating from a tornado, bending out of shape! So, we're moving it out of the frame and replacing it.

💡Tip: Wired contacts usually have a wider gap, so doing a wired contact and mounting the box high helps it not get hit.

💯 Door is now fully functioning!

🚨Surveillance System Installation Complete! 🚨

Just wrapped up installing floodlight cameras! 🔒💡 Here's what we did:

✔️ New floodlight box - Cut and wired in, aimed and tested. Looking great in HD!
✔️ Camera Setup - Verified all cameras are recording on motion detection and checked that notifications are coming through perfectly.
✔️ User Training - Showed the customer how to turn cameras on/off and manage notifications on her phone. 📱🔔
✔️ WiFi & Signal Check - Wi-Fi signal at the garage was solid at 2 bars, and voltage was within normal range.
✔️ Snapshot of the views 📸: Everything's looking pretty cool!
✔️Customer feedback: The lights were sensitive to car movements but we fixed that by adjusting the vehicle detection settings. 🚗💡

🚨 False Alarm Fix 🚨

We recently had a job troubleshooting a false alarm caused by issues with the fire panel. Here’s what we found:

✅ Zone Problem: All 3 hand pulls (except one) set off the alarm. The confusion was that Zone 1 includes both hand pulls and heat detectors.

🔌 Wiring Issue: The north side of the building had disconnected wiring, making the job more complicated.

🛠️ Missing Hand Pull: One hand pull was completely missing, with wires never connected. We fixed it!

🔔 Hornstrobe Issue: The hornstrobe wasn’t wired in at all. We spliced it, and it’s working now!

🔥 Heat Detector Issue: The furnace heat detector had water damage over time. It’ll need to be replaced.

💡 Tips:
- Mount detectors above ground to avoid water damage.
- Test wiring connections to clear faults.

Stay safe! 🛠️

🛠️ Security System Upgrade! 🛠️

We’re making great progress on the security system upgrade for a local church! Here’s a quick update on what’s been done:

• Camera Wiring: Ran all camera wires and doorbell connections.
• Upgraded Door Stations: We’ve added CAT6 wiring along with the existing cables for more reliable and secure door stations (no WiFi needed!).
• Camera Setup: Removed old wires and equipment. Two of three cameras are mounted and aimed—third camera will be routed through the bell tower for the best coverage.
• Porch Camera: Porch camera is online! We’ve tidied up the basement wires and patched the roof.
• South Entry Door: Wire is in place, just need to finish wiring in the kitchen and install the doorbells once the touch panels arrive.

Next Steps:
✅ Install the door stations and set up tablets to unlock doors
✅ Test keycard and fob with the doorbell system
✅ Finalize all wiring, including the porch camera
✅ Ensure everything is working perfectly before finishing the door stations
✅ Finish alarm system setup and communication test

📋 Notes:
- Door stations need to connect to the router switch (not the recorder) for app access.
- Altronics power supply will power the door stations and electric strikes.
- Tablets with stands are on their way for easy desk viewing.

We’re working hard to get everything up and running smoothly! 🛠️🔐

🔧 Troubleshooting Barn Camera Connectivity After Power Outage 🔧
We recently worked on a barn security system affected by a power outage and encountered some connectivity issues. Here’s a breakdown of the situation and how we resolved it:
📡 What We Found:
• All cameras were accessible from the POE switch in the barn, and we were able to view video and make changes without any problems.
• The radios were paired and functioning when checked individually, but there was no connection between the house and barn, despite the connection appearing live.
• We attempted to reset the cameras to DHCP to get new IP addresses, but they didn’t acquire them, suggesting a potential network issue.
💡 Key Discovery: The access point radio in the barn was showing the LAN port as "unplugged" even though it was properly connected. This led to the conclusion that while the radio was receiving power and establishing a link, it wasn’t passing data. We suspected the LAN port on the radio may be faulty.
🔧 The Culprit: Upon further inspection, one of the CAT6 cable terminations had gone bad during the power outage, likely from a brief power flicker. After re-terminating the cable, the router lights came back on, and everything worked as expected.
⚡ Next Steps: To ensure we don’t run into similar issues in the future, we’re installing a surge protector to safeguard the system from power fluctuations.
We’re back up and running, and everything is functioning properly now! If you’re having similar issues with your system, it’s always worth checking your cable terminations, radios, and considering surge protection to protect your equipment.

🚨 Cell Radio Issue🚨
While on-site last week, we discovered a serious issue with the radio. The power draw from the freezer was causing fluctuations, which ended up frying the radio. 😬

Here’s what we did to resolve the problem:
🔌 Moved the power supply for the cell radio to a different outlet to prevent power issues.
⚡ Radio was receiving only 9V, while the battery read a low 1.9V. The old radio was fried.
📱 Installed a new Verizon radio, but unfortunately, it couldn’t hold a signal.
✅ Switched to AT&T, and now we’re back in business with a solid connection!

Ensuring your security system is up and running smoothly is our top priority. If you’re having similar issues, don’t hesitate to contact us for troubleshooting and upgrades!

🔧 Motion Sensor Troubleshooting: A Step-by-Step Guide! 🔧

If you're experiencing issues with motion detection zones or need to upgrade your system, here’s a simple breakdown of how to troubleshoot and get things running smoothly again!

Step 1: Identify the Faulty Motion Sensors
If you're noticing that certain motion zones are not working properly, the first thing to check is whether the sensors are receiving power. In this case, a specific zone would fault when people walked by but clear after. After testing, it was clear that the wiring was the issue.

Step 2: Inspect and Replace Wires
We needed to replace the motion sensor and run a new wire to ensure a secure connection. Once the wire was properly connected, everything started functioning as it should!

Step 3: Check and Fix Loose Connections
In some cases, a loose connection can cause malfunction. For example, we experienced a zone not working correctly because the ground at the panel was loose. After tightening the connection, the zone started working properly.

Step 4: Replace Broken or Outdated Sensors
Sometimes, sensors just need to be replaced. Another zone was working with a broken dual-tech sensor, and another motion sensor was extremely old. These needed to be swapped out for new, fully functional ones.

Step 5: Confirm Everything is Working Properly
Once the sensors are replaced and wires are secured, be sure to do a full system check. In this case, after everything was wired up and reset, we tested each zone and confirmed that all zones were functioning properly.

Bonus Tip: Power Cycle and Reset
Sometimes, a quick power cycle and resetting the system can help with any lingering issues.

🚨 Alarm Going Off Nonstop? We Can Help! 🚨

🔧 Problem: One of our clients had a fire alarm that kept going off despite no fire being present. After repeatedly silencing it, the alarm would continue.

💡 Solution: Our technician quickly diagnosed the issue. It turns out that water was getting into one of the exterior HVAC duct detectors, causing a short in the system. Additionally, the duct detector had been improperly connected, causing it to trigger false alarms. We removed the faulty detector and replaced it, along with additional waterproofing to prevent further issues. After making the necessary adjustments, we ensured the system was stable and safe.

😊 Moral of the story: Regular maintenance and timely tech support are crucial in preventing alarms and system malfunctions. If you ever experience similar issues, don't hesitate to reach out to us for a quick resolution!

🔧 Troubleshooting a Low Battery in NAC Booster 🔧

We recently worked to fix a low battery issue. Here’s what we did:
🛠️ Step 1: We checked all the devices in the zone to see if anything was stuck or malfunctioning.
🔍 Step 2: Found the NAC expander with a battery trouble light on. We swapped out the old batteries.
⚡ Result: Trouble cleared, and everything’s back to normal! 💡 No more low battery in NAC booster!

🔄 Always check your devices and power sources when you see warning lights. Using clear and descriptive labels can turn a task that might take 3 hours into one that only takes 1 hour. Replacing batteries is a simple task that customers can often handle on their own. A well-labeled system allows owners to easily identify and fix issues themselves, saving both time and effort.😊
