Tremor Woodworks

Tremor Woodworks Just an old retired guy making stuff Why "Tremor" Woodworks? That's because I have Essential Tremor and I wanted to raise awareness of the condition.

Essential Tremor is a neurological condition that causes a rhythmic trembling of the hands, head, voice, legs or trunk. It is often confused with Parkinson’s disease although essential tremor is eight times more common, affecting an estimated 7 to 10 million Americans and millions more worldwide. More Essential Tremor information can be found at: https://essentialtremor.org/

An update to the August update. My back is much better, but I'm currently waiting on a shoulder MRI to determine if I will require Rotator Cuff surgery, so in the meantime I'm not doing anything that would put any stress on the joint. I'll put out another update once I know more.

Just to bring everyone up to speed... my back is much better but I've been on summer hiatus in the mountains since July and failed to update the page. I'll be back on the lathe around the Oct / Nov timeframe and will start cranking out some more bowls for your viewing pleasure. ;-)

I've been absent for a few weeks due to a boogered-up back but things seem to be back in reasonable shape. I need to get caught up on my videos, so here's the first one. # 216, 217, 221. 216 and 217 are Chinese Elm and 221 is Mesquite. All three are tool handles.
See tremorwoodworks.blogspot.com for all my projects.

I'm still doing physical therapy on my back but gave the lathe a try this morning and made myself a tool handle from a branch I cut off my Chinese Elm a few weeks ago. Just this little bit caused me to tighten up so I'll be staying off the lathe for the rest of the week.

I hope to get back to making bowls pretty soon as I have an overdue birthday present to make.

No finish on it other than just some beeswax to make it grippy. It just barely fit on the lathe as you can see the tailstock is hanging off the end.

No projects / photos / videos lately because I strained some muscles in my back. I hope to be back on the lathe in a couple of weeks.

# 212 - Mesquite bowl from a small scrap of wood that was laying in the yard. I was picking up trash by my chainsaw deck and decided to see what I could make of this. Details are on the blog.

# 211 Cedar bowl. We don't really have cedar in Arizona although we refer to it as such. This is commonly called Arizona Eastern Red Cedar and it looks a lot like Western Red Cedar but it's actually Juniper. This was harvested in September of 2024 in Show Low and since it is a "once turned" bowl the little crack is expected to get larger as the bowl continues to dry.
