Why doesn’t Bermuda grass green up as fast as some other lawns? 🌱
Bermuda can be slow to fully wake up early in the season because it spreads and thickens through underground runners and root development before you see aggressive top growth. Early on, much of the plant’s energy is focused below the surface building a stronger root system — which is what creates that thick, lush lawn later in the summer.
Color and growth can also vary depending on sunlight, watering, mowing height, soil conditions, and grass variety. Regular mowing actually helps encourage Bermuda to spread and thicken, even when growth seems slower during cooler temperatures.
Once consistent heat arrives, Bermuda typically takes off quickly and greens up aggressively for summer! ☀️
